Yes, but since I watched Star Wars, I am far more concerned with the the Deathstar!
That sucker turns you into gravel.
Which one the old Death star that just took out one planet or the one from the Force Awakens ? That one could take out whole systems!!! I would be VERY concerned about that one.

It all started with Trump

Yeah....bringing in almost 2 million unemployed "refugees" in a twelve month period would not affect distribution and consumption.......naaah. If you add in Spain and it's fricked up immigration policies, etc. it's closer to 2.75 million.

When are you people going to wake up to the destruction being wrought by climate change and stop keeping your houses at 73 degrees?! Look at what you're doing to the environment!
Passing off stupid AGW believers is just a bonus for me staying comfortable

I burn drain oil and old tires whenever I can. The pitch black smoke just makes the flames look brighter and more colorful.
Smolders for days.

This is newsworthy? No one with any sense would buy 3 heads of iceberg at one time, so there's no need to ration. Not to mention, it has almost no nutritional value compared to just about any other green leafy vegetable. Have the British ever heard of romaine, red leaf, bibb, watercress, spinach, etc?
The bigger story is the severe chive shortage in Ireland. What are the Irish to do with all those plain potatoes?!?

I agree. This is a little known fact. The smarter Irish preppers have bales of freeze dried chives in their bunkers. They are a generous people and will share with the "chive worthy" when times go dark.

Wasn't the potato famine caused by SUVs and air conditioners?

That, and potatoes...insidious, anarchist potatoes working underground to destroy the elite Potato Hierarchy and it's potato patriarchy. Fortunately , they were mashed into the ground before the real damage could be done.

John Deere CEO Sam Allen says projected food shortages are due to explosive population growth to the extent that agricultural output "will have to double by 2050". I'm sure he doesn't know wtf he's talking about though.

Hasn't the global population growth been leveling off in the past decade or so?
Nice sales pitch for his product though.

Because...there's never before been drought, too much rain, early frosts/freezes, late frosts/freezes, famines, blights...
Nope! Not until man cam along with his CO2 belching machines.
I am sure that is surprising as hell to a shitton of Irish from the mid-1800s

Man, it it was tea, chocolate and cigarettes, the Britts would really be freaking out...

I need a system wide safe space!

Dale: I agree. The Irish are very smart to plan ahead (like the Amish & Mormons) and generous to a fault (although they wouldn't ever share with the British [and rightly so]).
I've heard through different channels that they're developing different varieties like Spudwalker OG, ChillChive-47, & the prized and rather pricey Couch Potato...

Arable land is maxed. Output has to come from increased productivity which is an agronomic challenge, separate from manufacturing. His remarks were made at a global food shortage think tank called the world food prize symposium.
Global population is not flat in the undeveloped world. It's set to explode.

I've heard the same. I don't know how the patent laws work in Ireland, but I hope they can protect their genetic work and the forces of Big Potato don't rip them off.
