Why did all the prepper shows get cancelled? They were all getting good ratings.
Top Shot had good ratings for several years and was dropped. Now it's on The Sportsman Channel or something like that.
Big Brotha.

We ain't going nowhere if it's left up to our admins.

Chacken ain't got no allegiance to IMDb. He will make sure our voices are never silenced.

not sure how you are equating free speech eroding away with a private company shutting down its message board

I think you need a refresher on what "free speech" means. Free speech means you can say what you want without legal consequences outside of stuff like screaming fire in a crowded room, hate speech, etc. Free speech doesn't guarantee anyone access to an online message board that someone has to spend a significant amount of money for you to have access too.

Political correctness did not work out so they are going with direct censorship.

The culture of censorship is one of the scariest things forming right now. I am always quick to shoot down the straw-man argument, "But the First Amendment applies only to government action."
The reason that's a straw man is because, yeah, no shite. No one said otherwise.
But the First Amendment doesn't mean shite if we live in a culture willing to self-censor because we no longer value freedom of expression and value more the freedom from offense or exposure to "negativity" (aka "opposing views").
My mantra for decades has been that law follows culture. So the First Amendment, while it won't be repealed or amended in my lifetime or yours, can be gutted and ignored in many "judicial" and extra-judicial ways. It already has been in many jurisdictions. Thank GOD we don't have HRC stacking the Court over the next several years. But even still, the Court can't hear everything.
Also, as behemoth companies like Google, FB, Amazon, and Apple continue to control the exchange of information, there isn't much the Supreme Court or any other court can do about their domination of "expression." We may end up the victims of a pseudo-fascist "free market" dictatorship.
So I do believe it is paramount to oppose even private censorship. Not in an SJW whiny way, but by grasping and preaching the importance of open discourse.

IMDb is the world's most popular and authoritative source for movie, TV and celebrity content. As part of our ongoing effort to continually evaluate and enhance the customer experience on IMDb, we have decided to disable IMDb's message boards on February 20, 2017. This includes the Private Message system. After in-depth discussion and examination, we have concluded that IMDb's message boards are no longer providing a positive, useful experience for the vast majority of our more than 250 million monthly users worldwide.
In other words....it's too much of a pain in the arse and expense to maintain and monitor.
It's not a free speech issue because (1) IMDb is not government, and (2) they are not silencing some and not others. They killed the whole thing.

If you're scared then say you're scared.

If this was the case then Facebook, twitter, snap chat etc would all be shut down as well.
That will never happen.
That will never happen.

Well if it was left up to the liberals they would stamp out all sources of information that do not agree with their specific views.
That's just how the tolerant left works.

who cares about IMDb's message boards. I didn't even know they had message boards until this news came out. We have the Movie/TV Board.

If Facebook, ESPN, Yahoo, Twitter, etc.. decide the audience at TD is too large, too loud, too free, too conservative, and too open, they'll buy it and silence it. Brian is no fool. He'll hold out for a king's ransom, but in the end, if they wanted to silence TV's open and free speech, they'll figure out the price that puts control in their hands.

Man I don't know how people lived for 10s of thousands of years without any free speech before the internet was invented.

IMDB is going to lose millions of users. Many people go there just for the boards. It's a terribly stupid idea to get rid of them.
I know it's a swarm of trolls over there, but there's still a lot of helpful info to be gained from the boards. I'm sure their admins were overloaded with RA's and had to delete thousands of posts a day, but curing the disease by killing the patient is not the answer.

I thought Trump was going to stop this. Oh and free speech only protects you from the government.
