I read yesterday that the average income for Indian American families is around $88,000 while the average income for all families in the U.S is about $53,000. Also I notice that there are a lot of Indian People in STEM careers at a much higher percentage of their population compared to any other group. What factors do you the contribute to this?

They work. HARD. They are by and large great people. However they sometimes have a difficult time navigating our Byzantine tax laws - sales tax and employment tax specifically.

They're smart, hard working, and generally go abotu doing things the "right way". They assimilate, learn the language, etc.

Compare that to other groups that just come on over and that's that.

They've got like three hundred gods on their side. Most of us only have one or two tops. Hindu privilege.

This. They literally don't know what it is like to not work/learn all day long.

Because they don't waste time on things such as showering and applying deodorant.

They value education and family structure. Just like Asians.

Part of it is we also get their best and brightest. We're not getting people from their versions of trailer parks and section 8 housing.

There's a pretty large influx of them that make good money in the IT sector. That number could drop sharply if the Visa changes go through. That, however, may not because I also know quite a few of them are Doctors (interestingly enough, usually Dermatologists, and also small business owners.

Think about it. You learn English, but stuck in a caste system that, no matter your personal work ethic or knowledge keeps you down. You move to the US, that rewards high skill levels and strong work ethic and tends not to care what "caste" you're from.
