I usually buy my home shite from Crossfit events. Cheaper and zero shipping.
I have 440lbs worth of stuff at the house. The only thing we bought outside of those events were a small Rep Fitness rig and a Rep Fitness multiple Purpose bench.
The only thing I need now is a rower.
Assault bike, plyo box already at the house, too.

If you have an assault bike, why would you want a rower?
My assault bike is the only piece of "cardio" equipment I ever want to use.

It's great for intervals, but if I want a long cardio session like a 20-45 min, a rower is great for 5K to 10K.
The AB wears me out on high intensity interval training.

This is my home gym for now, building a 30x60 building in the next few months for it. For a rower go concept2 or xebex. As far as other gear, I can tell you from experience by commercial quality only. By once and don't regret it. Craigslist and eBay are great resources. Use uship or goadler transport to ship. If you want to know the best machines, look of the cost no object list on bodybuilding.com and for free weights, stick to rogue, fringe, any of the big Olympic manufacturers, Ivanovo, Texas power bars etc. also bwtg, mech6 and edge fitness are great for custom stuff.

Too narrow to fit the squat rack

Just another worthless gimmick. Get your lazy arse in the gym, lift heavy, eat better, drink less, and stop looking for shortcuts.

And on the weekends, you can grill on it.

Wtf are you talking about? A specialty bar is short cut? Dude go back to telling your friends how to lift and stay the hell out of threads you don't belong in; like this one.

Dude I'll work you and your straight bar

Gonna be A lot nicer once I build the new building and fill it up. It will take me 2 or 3 years but I will have everything I want then I'll go ahead and upgrade my rack and bench. I have the elitefts models now and they are awesome but I want better, which is the bad thing about a home gym. It's never done and you are always upgrading

Instead of doing curls and benching you could just jack off twice a day. Once with each hand. In a month your forearms will look like tree trunks

Sounds like you need a life.

So interested in this. I bet it's worth it for rows alone.
Your shoulders will thank you for this switch in your mid 30s.

I just can't justify the cost of a home gym vs regular gym. I only pay 35 a month and have everything I'll ever need. If I were to get the amount of weight I need and the proper equipment that won't break on me with the weight I use, it'll be over 2k. That's only a power rack and weights. That'll take almost 5 years to recover the costs.
I'd also want a dumbbell set that goes up to 150's.
On the other hand, when the boys get older I might do it once they get into sports.

Yes it's a shortcut. You don't need this, no one does. Lift regular weights.
