That's not a bad part of Algiers from what I remember...but maybe I just don't remember.

As someone who did delivery throughout college, these hit me extra hard. Absolutely horrible story, too (based on the article).

Same here. Worked at papa johns delivering for 3 years in college. You go to some shady places and you really aren't sure if you're gonna get jumped or worse when you pull up to a dark house.

Sadly, a delivery driver gets killed almost yearly in New Orleans and surrounding areas

Yes and he is sending 20 million on cameras when ProjectNola already has 1500 online for the NOPD to use but can't because Mitch won't let them

Mitch Landrieu will never let anything occur if he can't claim it as his own idea or product. I've had to interact with him quite a bit over the past few years in a criminal justice system capacity, in and the extent to which he will go to fight something for the sake of winning is mind-boggling.

If it was named Project Mitch, everything would be fine. Until then, you'll continue to read stories about how when ProjectNola has video of a robbery or shooting occurring, he'll spend two days trying to convince district rank to take the video before they ultimately have to meet the detective under a bridge to turn over the video.

His criminal justice strategy has been an epic failure, but rest assured he'll be in Criminal District Court on any high publicity sentencing date.

is it possible the delivery driver knocked on the wrong door at night?

According to some posters in that Slidell shooting thread the other day, that gives the homeowner the right to open fire on anyone on their propery at night.

Just down the street from Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1 block off Woodland, opposite Holy Cross College.

I used to go to their CYO group and ride my bike from my house near Saint Andrew.

Algiers has become New Orleans East 20 years ago, I.e. a nice place white people used to live and is now just an urban cesspool.

The decay I've seen just in the last year has been staggeringly quick, since my grandmother died April 2015 and my parents moved out of Park Timbers in December 2015. I've known several close friends and family who've been victims of carjackings and other violent crimes that were unthinkable a year ago.

My jaw dropped when I read about two 12 year olds skateboarding getting robbed by black gunmen in the Oak Park Baptist Church parking lot last year. Who robs 12 year olds on skateboards, really? Are the black criminals so desperate they'll steal the pocket money of a middle schooler? Apparently so.

Michael Harrison is leading the 10pm news with his standard bullshite.
Part 1: "It's unacceptable, it won't be tolerated, we will pursue this relentlessly until it is solved."
Part 2: "Somebody saw something or knows something. Call us."

The only thing missing is Mitch, with his tie loosened and sleeves rolled up, saying the same stupid shite.
