We eat there almost every sunday after church. The Alexandria one always has a line. Hard to find seating some times.

I think there used to be one in W. Monroe that closed several years ago.

Gonzales still had one I think. It's just not great food.

I call them Slutzky's. And that's the only pleasure I get from them.
Plus, the decision makers at Slutzky's don't know how to measure their perceived value vs their competitors.

Their model wasn't feasible

My understanding is that the ones on Sherwood and Jefferson were not doing horribly, the owner just wanted out. It seems he decided to open some pizza place in the same buildings and that closed in no time at all.
The one on Essen was doomed from the start. You couldn't get out of it if you needed to go left and you would have a hard time getting there during the busy times. Their drive through has always been slow so I am sure people passed it over for lunch and went with other options nearby that were more accessible and faster.

I like their sourdough bread but I can see how others might not like it.
The Essen location seemed very hit or miss service-wise. Somewhat disorganized feel to it despite the nice and colorful interior.

I can't speak for the one on Pinhook, but the Johnston Street location is run very well.
