Not like I particularly give a shite about this department, but this is such a "fricking really?" pick.

That would be different; she couldn't even answer basic questions about the major parts of the Department she is tasked with heading.
Meh. Do you know how MANY "major parts" there are to the depart of Ed?
She isn't going to be a Grant Manger IV; she is going to be Secretary. She sets direction; the worker bees figure it out. I have confidence she has a good handle on the major issues (not grant programs or regulations) facing education today.

This. Put education back in the hands of states.

It's also one of the most litigated laws. It's one of the largest components of the department.

Do you now how powerful the DeVos family is in Michigan?
They're literally a shadow state political party and government and the only reason that right to work passed there years ago is because they threatened Gov Snyder with a well funded primary challenge in his next election and that's a threat he took seriously and he proceeded to detonate that nuclear bomb in Michigan politics despite the unions waging holy war against it and anybody who voted for it.

Who gives a shite. It is a meaningless position in a meaningless bullshite department that should be phased out. Why all of the angst?

It pretty much already is in the hands of the state. The bulk of what the Dept of Education does is administer grants and student loans, and provides guidance to state boards of education.

Doesn't matter.
She will be confirmed.
The democrats can bitch all they want but they have Democrat Harry Reid to thank for the Nuclear Option.

The way should would not answer Tim Kaine's questions was very telling. He asked several questions that started with "I believe..." and ended with, "Do you agree or disagree?". She couldn't even state if she agreed with him or not.
You have to ask, why could she not answer if she agrees with, of all people, Tim Kaine? The reason is simple -- if she did not agree, she would be hit with, "please provide your reasons for disagreement". It is abundantly clear that she is not prepared for her role in the Federal Govt.
Whether her job is to dismantle the Dept of Education or not, she should still be able to communicate her beliefs and values during a Senate Confirmation Hearing.
Seriously? That rude prick wouldn't let her provide an explanation for her answers. He would ask a question that is not fully answerable in a yes or no form and then demand a yes or no answer. He tried to bully her and she handled herself very well under the argumentative interrogation style questioning.

She's stupid and evil. She represents the worst of the DeVos family. Remember they got rich with the barely legal pyramid scam called Amway. But at least she's stupid so she can't cause that much harm. I feel better with an idiot who can do stuff in charge versus someone who is evil and smart.
The DeVos family is truly one of the most evil families in America.

I wonder if she even knows the number of states in the union.
Surely the Secretary of Education should know that. Oh, Obama didn't know that. CNN could give her the answer to the questions prior to to the interrogation.
At this point what difference does it make.
When did politicians need to be quick on their feet? As soon as they put an "R" in front of their title.

Look. We were told he would appoint the best; her confirmation hearing revealed that she was not even close to the best, maybe even mediocre.
She bombed her job interview; time for somebody more competent to step up if we are going to get the best.

He could just not appoint anybody then get rid of the department. Sounds like plan

Trump isn't qualified and doesn't understand government.
Clown: It doesn't matter. He will surround himself with the best people.
Betsy Devos isn't qualified and doesn't understand education.
Clown: She will surround herself with knowledgable and capable worker bees.
How far down do we need to go before we will have qualified people making actual decisions? Get your head out of the sand.
