Have we discussed ad nauseum the onside kick yet?

If a couple of those bama players had tried instead of just giving up and being shell shocked, they are 35 yards away with 1 second left.
Now that wouldve been an epic choke job by clemson. Idk why you dont either (a) kick it out the back of the end zone if youve got a kicker with the leg, or (b) kick it out of bounds and put them 65 yards away.
Clemson got lucky as frick.
Unless someone comes in here and tells me that for some reason a second would tick off solely because the receiving team recovered the ball while a knee was on the ground.

You can't recover a kick without time coming off of the clock

well had bama recovered it there is no guarantee they recover it with a knee on the ground. i assume they figured it was a safe kick to prevent a return and at least one second would run off. really no issue with it.

This sounds like something a soccer mom would put on Facebook... the OP should be embarrassed

Well, it worked.
I just wondered if there is any rule about half the team getting out in front of the ball giving the kicker a free chance to fall on the ball. Nonetheless, props to a perfectly executed kick by the kicker with a perfect roll to 11 yards.

Its so common knowledge that time comes off the clock when the kicking team recovers but not when the receiving team recovers an onside kick. OK
I mean. i guess it makes sense since the kicking team cant advance the ball but its still pretty weird

So you didn't even know the rule but claimed Clemson 'got lucky as frick'?
Posted on 1/10/17 at 8:46 am to DollaChoppa
It's because the kicking team can't move the ball forward on an onside recovery I believe

No stupid, I meant you were popping off at the mouth without even knowing the rules... that what I have a problem with
If you don't know, ask questions

I mean..the ball is immediately dead when the kicking team recovers it. You can't advance it.

Down by 4. Who the hell is going to get the ball 35 yards down field for a TD?

Not the kicking team, the receiving team.
The ball is immediately dead when the kicking team recovers a kick. Not the case for the receiving team.

In both situations, the ball is dead immediately upon being possessed, assuming the recovering team does so with a knee already on the ground.
But if that's the rule, then yea, great call by Clemson to take advantage of what I'd think is a strange rule.
