No, it isn't. It's a 100% legal kick. It's only illegal to touch it before 10 yards.

If bama doesn't touch it, tell me what happens, idiot?

Although it worked out, I think the onside kick was the riskiest play.

As a few have mentioned, the biggest risk is illegal touching within 10 yards, which occurs alot on onside kicks. From the angle on tv, it appeared the ball was dangerously close to the kicker as it was.

Secondly, as we learned last night, a recovery by either team while being down does not burn any time. had a bama guy jumped on it, the clock may not have started either.

You really think the Rhodes Scholars on the field for Bama are thinking, "shite, don't touch it, we'll get the ball at the spot that it stops moving without any time running off"? No, they're thinking, "Oh shite! We have to get the ball and run it back!"

Furthermore, don't call me an idiot for pointing out that you were wrong about it being an "illegal kick." I won't call you an idiot, but I will call you an ill-informed emotional midget.

The kicker very clearly got past 10 yards before dropping to the ball. The ball isn't going to suddenly accelerate and attack one of them Clemson players. That's not how physics works.

actually because of the shape of the football, it can take a funny hop and bounce up rather than forward, essentially decelerating, and allowing the kicker to run into it.

Time doesn't come off the clock when somebody kneels in the end zone for a touchback. It definitely wouldn't have come off if Bama jumped straight on the ball. It was a completely idiotic call IMO.

That ball was dangerously close to not going 10 yards or having a Clemson player touch it 1st. Why not just squib it to the other 30? If Bama just jumps on the ball there they couldn't complete a Hail Mary.
