I thought the plan all along was to build the wall to secure the border and then get Mexico to pay for it after the fact. That was my understanding at least.

The most effective way would be to cut illegal immigrants from all forms of government services. No healthcare, no education for their children
You can't prevent them from receiving health care.
Since 1986 the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) law requires anyone coming to an emergency department to be stabilized and treated, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.
Therefore as long as they are here we get stuck with the bill.

You sure this is the most effective way to stop illegal immigration?
No, but shooting people is not how you win friends, so this is the next best thing.
Was a bad look for East Berlin. Let's not make that mistake too.
Making life for illegals who do make it here hell is another way to mitigate illegal immigration, but we decided helping them continue to break our laws with welfare, healthcare and housing was the right thing to do a long time ago.

Doesn't bother me. Build it.
So you don't mind being lied to? Like when Trump said throughout the campaign Mexico would pay for it?

Or you could just enforce existing laws fining the shite out of employers who hire illegals ...thereby eliminating the demand for cheap labor....and eliminating the reason they come here i the first place.
But we don't actually want to stop illegal immigration ....because we live cheap labor.....

$30 billion sent back to Mexico every year, slap a 25% tax on it there's your money to pay for the wall.
Place cash in box. Send via postage. 25% tax avoided.

Hmmm. I don't seem to recall that refrain echoing from the rafters....
"What are we going to build?"
"A WALL"
"Whose going to pay for it ?"
"MEXICOOOO UNKNOWINGLYYYYY!"
hmm.

In 2013, the United States gave Mexico $51.5 million in foreign aid. Of that amount, $24.8 million, the largest segment, was designated for democracy, human rights and governance. The next largest amount, $10.9 million, was designated for the environment, and $8.4 million was designated for economic development.
i think we can scrape together a few pennies from that to make this not incur costs to the US.
a want..a want to be wrong all the time.

I am so glad all these Liberal's are finally going to start holding our elected officials accountable for their statements. They have been lying to us for years. Most recently
1) Most transparent admin ever.
2)If you like your plan, you can keep your plan
3)Gun control-Fast and furious
4)weaponizing the IRS

You weren't paying attention then. He said many times on the campaign trail "they might not know it yet, but they're paying for the wall".

Yes, glad to be paying for something that will BENEFIT this country rather than mess it up even further.
Elections have consequences. Trump won, you lost. Deal with it! Seek therapy if you must.

Maybe he should have phrased it as "shovel ready jobs". Would that make the libs feel better?

I will gladly contribute to the construction of the wall!

Already several companies are moving factories from Mexico to America. That means more jobs and more people paying taxes here. If company like Toyota wants to open in Mexico then he is going to tax them for bringing cars here. Anyone see how the wall is getting paid for yet? I felt like this was the plan the whole time. Mexico wasn't going to send us a billion dollars. We are going to make it up from the money they would have gotten.

The initial threads on this were stupid. Yet you are repeating them? It makes Whoopi Goldberg look like Einstein by comparison.
