Now THIS is the move that should worry LSU fans re: Aranda. Saints could easily make a run at him as LB coach.

Can we fire Payton too and get Saban? Two birds, one stone

So the DC didn't get fired?

The Saints D played lights out considering the talent they have. Talent's the issue not the coaching IMO. Just like LSU's oline.

Three straight losing seasons with a HOF QB still in his prime. And the one constant has been Loomis & Payton calling all the shots with regards to the draft. Consider that up until just recently, Payton was the highest paid HC in the NFL. The Patriots finally stepped up & paid their man the most.

Former UGA DC and current Bama DC Pruitt, what do you guys think about bringing him back to the NFL with the Saints?

You are a 24-carot moron. Aranda is a DC not a position coach, and secondly, his next stop is to get a HC job in college, do well and move up. This may be the worst post comment of the year.

You guys crack me up. Lets review how stupid this line of thinking is ...

1) highly sought after college DCs have absolutely made the jump to the NFL as position coaches (see then LSU DC Muschamp following Saban to the fins as LB coach, not as DC)
2) Dave Aranda - while DC of UW - interviewed for an open position coach with the Packers in 2015
LINK
3) Dava Aranda - as far as my googlefu can tell - has never interviewed for a HC position other than the open HC job at Wisky when he was already the DC there. Even then, I cant tell he was even interviewed - just submitted an application.

So why does EVERYONE assume the man wants to be a college HC? The man seems like a quite, introverted football nerd - perfect for a NFL DC.

ETA: wtf is a "carot"? did you mean carat?

Funny, you never hear Belichick's name come up.

The talent is average to above average IMO. The defense has played very well for stretches this season. The defense was decimated by injuries early in the year. It was the worst injury epidemic I have ever seen on one side of the ball. I think Allen is doing a decent job and I'd like to see him get 1 more year. The people that were fired were precisely the ones knowledgeable fans have been begging to see let go.

Is this a serious comment? What fricking job do you think Belicheck's name should come up for? Secretary of Defense?

Man already has the best job in the NFL.

People will complain and say everyone deals with injuries but it's slightly different when 5 of your projected 11 starters are injured. Kikaha and gwachum(de), rankins (dt), Anthony and Ellerbe (lbers), Breaux, Lewis, Williams, and Wilson (dbs).

Literally 5 starters and 4 top backups. The only team I can honestly compare is Minnesota's offense

not saying he wants to be a college HC, but he's still not leaving a gig where he's making nearly 2mil a year at to become a position coach in the NFL. That's retarded and so are you for thinking its plausible.

Please do not compare Aranda in 2016 to Muschamp when Saban left. Muschamp was not a highly regarded DC at that point at all - he was a kid and Saban was the defensive genius. Aranda is considered the best DC in college ball, or at least top 3, and is the highest paid coordinator period. He may want a pro DC job rather than college HC, but no way he becomes a position coach anywhere.
