Libtards rock!
Seattle is issuing registered voters vouchers worth $100, which voters can use to support candidates. The money comes from a property tax increase passed in Seattle in 2015. LINK

That is the dumbest policy I have ever heard of.

They're a sanctuary city, so I think it basically comes down to anyone over 18 that lives in Seattle.

Brilliant. Take money from landowners, give it to city politicians and call it democracy. Just another way to put money in politicians hands

interesting way to publicly fund candidates

We're going to take your money via tax, then give it back to you, but only in a form of payment that can go back to us.

I just read about this through the Seattle times.
LINK /
The writer spins it through rose colored glasses as being a great way to get people to be more actively engaged in the city wide democratic (governing style not political party) process, which it very well may do. However it is still spending someone else's money. The fact that you don't have to be a registered voter to even qualify is insane to me.
"Wayne Barnett, executive director of the elections commission, said one aim of the program is to get more people involved in the electoral process. People who contribute to campaigns are later on more likely to volunteer and more likely to vote, Barnett said."
People are engaged when it's their own money. Someone else's money will not engage them nearly as much as the politicians "hope".

This is the first priority of all government.

This is a city where my two choices for US congress were toe far left Democrats, one an Indian woman whose ads touted herself as the next Elizabeth Warren, the other some Mexican dude who looked like he had ties to drug cartels

If you are interested in obtaining a voucher but you are not a registered voter you can still participate. You must be at least 18, a Seattle resident, and a U.S. Citizen, U.S. national, or lawful permanent resident.
I'm sure there are ways around these little inconveniences as well.

Or, more likely, to be sold for $0.75 on the dollar in equivalent weed value.
