Louisina is home to one of the worst legal climates in the country and JBE has made it worse going all in on the bullshite Jindal and Buddy Caldwell condoned and in some cases propagated. It's a judicial hellhole with rampant lawsuit abuse everywhere.
Businesses won't come here because job killing regulations and lawsuits are everywhere.
We need tort reform in Louisiana like you need a glass of water walking in the desert.
Ambulance chasers and trial lawyers are like pigs in shite in Louisiana. Hopefully the next Governor whether it be Graves or Landry will be like Rick Perry who unleashed hell on Earth in Texas for trial lawyers with his massive tort reform packages and the boom was on in Texas from that point thereon. The RINOs in the statehouse will have to be eliminated as well and I'm looking at Alario, Fannin and Martiny.
Vitter's tort reform would've saved this state and made the oil boom really kick into high gear.

These lawsuits have been around since before JBE. Oil prices are out of the control of anyone in the US and is the main factor in these local economies. This article is mostly sensationalism.

So...what did JBE do to cause this, specifically? The article makes a claim but doesn't say what he did much less back it up with any facts.

He had little to no impact on losing jobs anywhere in La

There are only two people to blame that made hookers a bipartisan political issue.
These two RINO democrat lite motherfrickers froze the conservative base and turned them to JBE with their incessant mudslinging at Vitter.
Angelle paid a huge price for betraying conservatives once his voters came to their senses and they chose Clay fricking Higgins over him.
Dardenne was smart enough to know that he was finished and to go for the fat paycheck as JBE's right hand guy and then coast off to retirement after 2019.

JBE can't control oil prices.

No shite.
It's a way of life for this first world banana republic and Jindal doubled down on them just with different targets.
What's different here is that JBE is a special case because he's kicking those lawsuits into high gear and he's attacking the largest provider of private sector employment to give his buddies jobs. He's easily the worst offender we've ever had on this topic.

He can control not attacking largest source of private employment in Louisiana though.
All he's doing is chasing jobs away with these huge lawsuits.

I guess my point is that these suits have far less to do with unemployment rates than market prices. Do the suits contribute to unemployment? Possibly, but unlikely.

Yep JBE doesn't directly control price in a way when it comes to oil but his actions control other things and make for a horrible business climate. Him and Jindal have created a little la in northwest Georgia with all the people that relocate.

He can ally with the parishes to sue the oil companies and that's what he is doing.
Posted on 12/21/16 at 9:16 pm to Sentrius
What law suits are you talking about specifically?
Posted on 12/21/16 at 9:23 pm to Sentrius
If the oil companies are responsible for coastal erosion they deserve to be sued.

They're not.
If JBE was really concerned about coastal erosion, he would be suing the army corps of engineers who designed and built the levees that gave us coastal erosion and putting whatever money he can get into the necessary funds and trusts but we all know he's not going to do that as there's no legit money and votes in that kind of noble thing to do and he has better plans for the kind of money he can get suing oil companies.

I'm no JBE fan, but until the OPEC cartel creates scarcity again there won't be another oil boom. Federal and state governments can roll back regulations, but it will help only so much. Oil is just too cheap for large scale capex investment right now.

You mean the oil companies that complied with state approved and issued permits?
