I have a Browning Xbolt and love it. Its pretty and a gentleman's gun.

With that being said, Tikka makes one of the best budget/best guns right now. This board has a hardon for Tikka and its almost justified.

Sako A7 if you are saying without optics. Tikka T3 if you are saying 1200 with optics.

anyone own the CZ 527 Carbine in 7.62 x 39?

I've had my eye on one and it's tempting but I'd like to hear thoughts from an owner.

I'm all in on 7.62x39 so I've been thinking about that one as well
the reviews are nearly 100% positive and CZ is well known for quality
I've not shot one but it may be my next purchase

Winchester Model 70 in .30-06
You may even get lucky and find a pre64 in good shape for around $1,000

Depends on the type hunting you do. I for the most part only stalk hunt on those days I take a Remington Model 7 308. No telling how many miles I've walked with that gun. I've gotten a .300 a .257 and a 30-06 since that gun and they rarely see the woods. Got it for Christmas 15 years ago when I was 16, synthetic stock stainless steel 20" barrel redfield 2x7 wide view scope. I once bought a new scope for it and it didn't feel right so I put the old redfield on it and yes I get made fun of. I wish someone would make a wide view scope again then I would buy it in a heartbeat.

I used my nephew's Tika .270 a few weeks ago. I now get the appeal. I know the gun and the 4x14x40 didn't break the bank yet it was a slick setup.

3 shot moa guarantee with tikka.
5 shot moa guarantee with sako.

Nobody else can touch this out of the box for under 2k.

My Xbolt still looks nicer.
