What are ppl’s thoughts?

LINK

Pels get: Aldrich, Splitter and Lucas III

Minny get: Asik & Mike Scott

Hawks get: Evans & Ajinca

Why the Wolves do this? – They get a defensive big that Thibs loves
Why Atlanta does this? – They get some backcourt help for Schroeder.
Why the Pel’s do this? – Salary dump

I'd be all for it, but I feel like this trade heavily benefits the Pels and Minnesota/Atlanta are getting the shaft.

Really?

What are Minny and Atlanta really giving up?

Maybe chuck in the 36th pick if needed.

what role would you see lavine in that would be transformative?

he is...definitely not a PG. he's similar to Hield- he doesn't do much else besides score, but that is a pretty important skill. still a few months out from turning 22 and he's a 20ppg scorer on 47/38/85 splits. maybe he's best as a 6th man, but i start him over Hield until proven otherwise.

i dont think he's a superstar, but he fills a scoring need in a big way. the hope would be to build around Davis, LaVine, 2017 1st. think that move helps the rest of the roster start to make more sense

eta- this isn't a slam on Hield. happy he's been better lately. just think LaVine has a higher ceiling and getting that for an expiring Holiday is a move I'm okay with

if they could swing Rubio/lavine for holiday/asik, I'd consider moving another guard or two for WCS or Noel (Moore/Galloway/Evans)

If my 21 and 26 y/o backcourt tandem on nice contracts only netted my team Omer Asik and Holiday, Id jump off a bridge

I just don't see any way that Minnesota takes Asik without giving back Pekovic. It'd have to be something where they get Holiday/Asik and only send back Rubio and filler.

Yeah, I don't think you get Rubio as a throw in, but I can still see them having interest in Holiday for Lavine, even as an expiring. Asik for Pek should be seen as positive value for Minnesota and negative value for the Pels, so Holiday/Asik for Lavine/Pek seems reasonable. If you need to throw in Cunningham too, I wouldn't fight it.

i would agree. said as much w/ original idea--- would be banking on Thibs being desperate/dumb.

i do think moving on from Holiday, barring him offering a steep discount, makes some sense at this point. getting LaVine back would be a nice move for the Pels.

I think the new CBA changes things quite a bit. Before AD didn't have to choose between money and winning so you needed an air tight, beyond a reasonable doubt case that he could win with you. That extra money makes the team's burden of proof more like a civil case IMO, he just needs to be pretty sure things will work out eventually. To me that means more focus on raising the ceiling of the team by 2019 rather than having the best possible on court product by 2019. You still need to be an up and coming playoff team by then, there's no time for a full rebuild, but turning Holiday into someone like Lavine and getting a top 5 pick this year probably pays off more than keeping Holiday and trying to fill the SF spot by betting on long shots because that's all you can afford.

I'm officially ready to trade Holiday and tank.

Lol it probably is Jrue was playing well and is also a Thibs type player. Lavine was still a streaky player that showed promise and we were trying to win. If you think that's bad they had a trade lined up centered for Tyreke and Harris but Reke got hurt also Dell offered Cole something near 6-8 mill a year for 4 years after the playoff season and Cole thought he was worth more. Just from what I heard for some guy who's been right a good bit of time may be true may be not.

Samesies.

I'm ready to trade everyone and everything not named Davis and to a lesser extent Hield and Diallo (both could be available in an amazing value deal, but the value would have to be drastically in our favor).

Clean slate for the next GM. Young players on rookie contracts, expirings and picks.

right on the cba implications...i do want to read the Pelton article on young stars potentially have more reasons to demand trades LINK

at this point, getting a top 6 pick this year should probably be one priority

i wish they had traded Gordon/Anderson for whatever they could get and started the tank last year around this time. not that any rookie looks particularly good right now, but just a an acknowledgement from management that they are thinking beyond the next 6 months.

Will be utterly ridiculous.

My theory last year was that he was likely to be fired so they told him not to make any major moves. Well that was wrong.

If he sits again, this team gets nothing, and Dell STILL isn't fired, I will absolutely give up.

I just wanted us to flip everyone not named Anthony Davis.

Training staff is laughable, they are one of the worst managed groups in the league. We could have Lebron and he'd end up missing the season
