Orgeron successfully executed a major responsibility of his job

It wasn't pretty, the PR side was a nightmare, and we had to endure a week or two of negative momentum, but Orgeron successfully identified, recruited, and made a big hire at OC.
This is so much better than getting Kiffin to come in for a year. Now, we can have confidence that if we were to lose a coordinator, Orgeron is capable of hiring a top notch replacement.
All of O's efforts need to be on painting a positive picture of the state of this program and where it's going. He needs to be selling Canada at every opportunity.
If he can get recruiting back on a roll, Orgeron's going to have a real chance to be successful.

He said he was going to bring in the best coordinators in the country. I think most agree Aranda is in the top 3. Canada, not so much. He's good, but he's not elite.

And very, very little attrition in the head coaching change from a recruiting standpoint. Players like Jacoby Stevens, Austin Deculus, and Tyler Shelvin did NOT defect. If we can keep this current class with the addition of a handful more, it's about as smooth of a transition as we could have ever had.
The future is bright at LSU. Time to embrace the change.

Good post. Lots of these guys need to back off the ledge.

bullshite. I know by reading this board that the football program is in a shambles and O nor Alleva are capable of hiring the right guy and we're all doomed. Doomed I tell you.

Let's also not forget that Brennan and Narcisse are still up for grabs. Plenty to be positive about.

Here is a different opinion:

Pitt offensive coordinator Matt Canada has been named a finalist for the prestigious Broyles Award, annually presented to college football’s top assistant coach, it was announced today.

He'll be elite by the time he leaves here. He's a perfect fit for the talent we have. Book it.

So would you say he's not uptopar?

yes, and people on this board should be giving him credit. He followed through with his promises.

And the best players. We're just going to have to take everything he says with a grain of salt, I guess.

I thought I read that Sark was next in line behind Canada

Canada wants total control of the offense which he never had until this year at Pitt. Read the blurbs about him and Fat Bert and the coach at NCST. Total control is why he came here.

Name 2 DCs better than Aranda.

Who are your list of available candidates that rank above him?
Kiffin, Riley, Enos, Helfrich, Sark, Both Briles (despite their baggage). I think those are some names that are clearly a tier above Canada despite their baggage. I think Canada is somewhere in the next tier with Gilbert, mazzone, Frost, etc.

Lincoln Riley who already has total control of the O at OU.

You're delusional. We're hiring a coach that is up for the broyles award, hung 43 on Clemson's top 10 defense, and he wants to be here. That's a home run hire.
This.
