I watched the Ben Simmons doc on Showtime and he seemed like the perfect candidate. He clearly did not give a single frick about playing college basketball or going to school, and I don't necessarily blame him. He was also used to being away from his family and not from the US
Brandon Jennings and Emmanuel Mudiay are the only two to my knowledge that have done it. Especially with how many players move across the country to attend prep school and such at a young age, I don't think the moving overseas part would be a huge deal. I am kind of surprised more haven't done it and am curious why that is

I think Brandon Jennings spoke out on the experience saying it sucked or could suck if you end up signing in the wrong place

money not good enough to risk getting exposed. Euro leagues are no joke these days.

Playing in Europe is not exactly glamorous.

This.
Jennings didn't exactly light it up in Italy. The leagues are too good.
Mudiay was in China.

Sometimes it's best to try to build a brand on a college team.

Euro teams arentin giving minutes to an 18 :-) year old who wont be there next year

It's all about self marketing and building a "brand"...not going to get the exposure overseas....Simmons benefited a ton by going to LSU, he was always talked about in all types of media

That's true, and I don't know how eager Euro teams are to sign a guy they know would be gone the next year.

Go be a nobody in Europe with a ocean between you and everyone you've ever known or go dick around a campus for a few months.
Europe would be such a cool experience and probably be Better for your game but i get why they go the safer route

“I’ve gotten paid on time once this year,” Jennings said in an e-mail message. “They treat me like I’m a little kid. They don’t see me as a man. If you get on a good team, you might not play a lot. Some nights you’ll play a lot; some nights you won’t play at all. That’s just how it is.”

Not only did Douglas-Roberts continually feel like “the foreigner,” as he found it hard to communicate with his teammates, but some of the adjustments exceeded even his worst expectations.
“I didn’t have hot water some days, I didn’t have heat in the winter,” he says. “Where we practiced, the showers were filled with mold. It was really unsanitary. I couldn’t really adjust to [it] when I was over there all year. It was a struggle every day.”

Terrance Ferguson is the newest name, but he's been getting money all throughout high school.
There's a ton of reasons why they aren't and they've mostly been listed in here

It is not really a hard decision for these dudes. I know a guy that played college basketball and currently plays in Europe. No one knows who you are over there and you can be in a country that doesn't speak English. In college you are a celebrity and can get your dick sucked every night. You don't see many Americans that stay in Europe when the season is over.

It's not this
It is this
A guy like Ben Simmons for example was 100% good enough to play for any team in Europe, they just probably wouldn't have played him.
Like look at this:
Youngest Euroleague MVP ever and he barely got 22 minutes a game for them.

At the beginning of the 2014–15 season, Šaric's father criticized Efes's head coach, Dušan Ivkovic, for not putting Dario in the roster for the Turkish League games, openly threatening possible termination of the player's contract, if the situation didn't improve.[29] He was named the 2014–15 Euroleague season's MVP of the Month for the month of November, becoming the youngest player in Euroleague history to win the monthly MVP award.

22 minutes per game is probably 2nd or 3rd on most Euroleague teams.

His minutes went down after he entered the draft.

MVP for the month. Not the whole season.

this is why they play college ball
hell, this is the sole reason the NBA has the 1-year requirement

Nah, their main reason is to screen guys to make sure there aren't surefire busts among the top 10 recruits. Second is the branding element, and I agree that any recruit who goes abroad is tanking their Nike/UA/Adidas money on the first contract.
Only reason a guy goes abroad is if he can't qualify academically or was paid as an amateur.
Btw, the big who went to Israel and then Japan was Jeremy Tyler.
