Normalizing the amish.

IMO, many Millennial's beards are all about compensation. Most literally haven't had many of the things that reinforced male identity of earlier generations: contact sports experience, military experience, steady jobs, incomes, optimistic futures, homes, wives and families, good music, faith communities, etc., etc..
I think you're looking into it way too much. For many it's just a trendy thing to do.
ETA: Case in point, many of the hipster guys that wear beards also have the man buns going on. I don't think that you could argue that is also some compensation tool. What's manly about having a bun? Most of the guys with those stupid things have beards too.

Younger males are typically and especially pliant regarding conformity to social norms. In the case of millennials, they are removed from contexts regarding male identity that were, until very recently, quite common.
For all we know, they think 'man buns' are virile. If so, it would only buttress my more general emphasis: they have lost their way regarding the essence of manhood, particularly -though not exclusively- of the heterosexual variety.
Here's to MAGA correcting some of that!

Beards aren't just a Muslim thing. Men throughout history of many cultures, nations, and religions have sported them. Here are some good Christians of yesteryear rocking the beard.

It's a fad. As soon as skinny jeans go away, beards will follow.
Posted on 12/9/16 at 12:34 pm to HubbaBubba
Once more hipsters start to realize fashion of the late 1800s and early 1900s, they will start shaving their necks and chins and switch to more mustache variations. The 1950s beatniks are right around the corner and soul patches will come back again, too.

skinny jeans aren't going anywhere. people like skin tight shite. its here to stay. and for people with good bodies, they like wearing tight clothes.
I am ready for beards to go. All of my friends have them, and most of them are not hipsters. its just like everyone has a beard.
ironic mustaches are worse tho
