I think if I have to go quartz, at that price range I'd be looking at something from Orient, Seiko, Citizen, etc.

Here's one from Citizen:

ETA: Also 40mm and has a cheaper silver case option.
ETA2: EMAIL5 promo code takes another $5.00 off.

It's a classic design that works well. Like others have said, I think it's overpriced at $230 for a quartz fashion watch, but you got a decent deal on it at $80. $50 would be more of a "sale" price on something if it were priced reasonably originally.

Have the same one. Nice looking, light, and comfortable. Don't have to take it off if I'm at the computer all day.

you've started a thread over a $10-15 watch

and that's why I wanted to ask, like ive said I feel like I fell for the scheme. saw the sale on amazon, didn't believe it so checked the website and sure enough $229. so I thought I was getting a deal AND only one left in stock better but it fast.

and now I kinda regret it. But ive learned a lot from the thread on a $10 watch.

If you just ordered on Amazon, it's probably not too late to cancel the order

That is some funny shite.

There are numerous message boards that discuss watches. I learned a lot from /r/watches. I guess it does sound funny but there are plenty watch enthusiasts out there.

Dying to get this movement on my wrist.

I was buying myself Christmas presents on amazon and looking at watches, asked a few people for recs and they said DW. when I searched amazon had a St. Mawes on sale for $86 regular $229 and it said 1 left in stock so I rushed and bought it.

I don't know much about this brand, but always cross shop these kinds of watches on Ebay. I got a Stuhrling for half of what Amazon wanted on ebay.

Just because some of the geniuses on OT pronounced it a "$10" watch, doesn't negate the good looks and the fact that you like it. I'd venture to say that the high end watches they would pay a small to large fortune for are not all that much in production either. Most of the $$$$$ oomph is in the brand name snob appeal. Where watches are concerned, what matters is if you like it, if it works, if fashionable enough, and if you got a decent deal. Yours is a winning choice on all categories, so enjoy it and forget the buyer's remorse.

when I saw $86 I was thinking that was a lot then I saw regular $229. idk why anyone would pay that much for such a simple watch, even if for the name ive never heard of DW

I mean I like it enough but having a little buyers remorse and think I should I have just waited and looked more> instead of rushing into the purchase because the savings

It's a nice looking watch and if you like it that's all that matters. However, you didn't get anything special. It's a cheap Chinese watch. That's not to say it won't work just fine (I have a $30 Chinese watch on right now just because I wanted a cheap watch that looked good with a nato strap). Price-wise you didn't really get much of a "deal". $86 is probably the actual price. They're just using the Jos. A. Bank way of pricing things where they tell you the price is $230 but you can get it at a huge discount TODAY!!! In 3 months that watch will probably still be $86.

Again, if you like it then enjoy it. If you bought it because you wanted a "nice" watch, then you probably got had by good marketing. Just be glad you didn't drop $230 on it! At $86 there's nothing wrong with it.
