Kind of a random question, but who pays for all of the President's suits?

Is there a federal wardrobe budget for him? Does he use his own money or rely on suits he already owns?

I'm not voting for a guy to lead the free world who can't already buy his own suits.

It was seeing Trump in a suit every single day that got me thinking about it. I'm sure he has a house full of suits, shirts, ties and shoes. But it made me think about someone like Obama when he first took office.

All you suckers that pay taxes.

Contas.
Its a straight deduction out of their weekly check.

I expect Tom Ford or whoever produces the suit the POTUS likes will give it for free.

...who had been a sitting senator and wrote two books (with advances). Pretty sure the dude could afford suits

Yes. There's a budget for everything. I doubt the president personally pays for anything, and it would be difficult if he chose to. They take all of your credit cards and other such effects and stick them in a safe.
Most presidents dress well, but not too opulent and yes, there is a tailor. However, you'd be called out if you had a closet full of $10,000 suits.
Unless you're a democrat, namely Michelle Obama, in which case you can do whatever you want and no one will say shite.

I know one of Brooks Brothers big PR/selling points is that every president for the past 100+ years (or something like that) has worn their suits. I guess they likely aren't charging "rack rate" for that PR.

Id bet a chunk that those suits are custom made with a serious amount of calculation of the fact that people will try to do violence to him.
The work on those suits is probably exorbitant, and I don't think tye President should or does pay OOP for those. probably a clothing allowance like all the executive cabinets have.

If I'm not mistaken he has to pay for his own food.

He certainly hadn't made any money actually managing anything

Considering the sacrifices made to hold that job, everything should be provided for.

Did Obama buy his own smokes?
Posted on 12/6/16 at 2:08 pm to Damone
Mexico will start paying for them next month.
Posted on 12/6/16 at 2:10 pm to Damone
Hugo Boss probably just gives Trump suits.

I saw a show on the History Channel once where they talked about this. Apparently the president pays for his own toothpaste, razors, deodorant, etc. I would think the government pays for state dinners with other dignitaries, don't know about just the average meal though.

Typically the President does with his salary. When on campaign trail the parties will pay for cloths.
