The CEO of SilencerCo, who has been heavily pushing the HPA, was just named co-chair of President Trump's Second Amendment Coalition. This bodes well for hopefully pushing the HPA through congress.

I wonder which repubs will vote against it.

Govt gives up hundreds of millions of dollars.

I would think the bureaucracy required to process applications and maintain the database is far more expensive than the 200 tax collected makes but I could be wrong

idk, was just listing a possible reason.

in any event it's not even the tax that I hate
it's the 8-9 months processing
if nothing other than keeping the tax and eliminating the application happens I'd be fine with that

The amount of people that actually go through the process is relatively small. The tax that they would gain by much more mainstream sales would offset, at minimum, the loss of $200 from a relatively small population currently.

Because people associate suppressors with nefarious activities. The public campaign and propaganda from the left will totally kill it.

Hell, i'd still pay the tax stamp if they would just reduce the wait times. 8/9 months is freaking absurd. 3 to 4 weeks would be exceptable

I wouldn't be surprised if they do pass it but have suppressors fall under the Robert Pittman excise tax.

And they'd lose. Even some strict gun-control law having countries in Europe allow suppressors without special permits.

i actually think it goes through. apparently the NRA's endorsement of Trump was partially contingent upon his pushing of the HPA

Basically suppressors will be NFA exempt. All you will need to buy them is to fill out the 4473 like you do for a normal firearm. Idk if they are making it 18 or 21 to purchase though.

I heard this as well. Sounds like LaPierre wants forgiveness for pushing for FOPA and Hughes Amendment along with it
