The Best Kind of QB is someone who can distribute the ball with his ARM

Running QBs are so overrated. Run the spread. That's fine. But, the best, most unstoppable QB is one who can distribute the ball to playmakers, not someone who can run the ball all over the place.
I'd rather have a Drew Brees any day than a Michael Vick.
Losing Brennan is HUGE. Don't spin this. Why can't he run a pass-oriented spread offense? Why does the QB have to run the ball?
Every QB that we get who runs the ball and is "dual-threat" can't pass it at all, no matter what they are rated. Give me a passing QB any day.
I don't care how Orgeron spins this. This is just bad.

QBs that can't even move around the pocket are a dying breed.

Who says a QB who can pass also can't move in the pocket? That is an extreme.

I agree with arm.
Being able to elude the rush is imperative though.
Most all qbs today can do that.
Being able to think quick and react either with a throw or a juke and step up is what you need.

If the kid loves LSU so much, why not come and compete for the damn job? He runs the ball a lot at his high school so that is a lame excuse if you asked me. Problem is these kids want the job handed to them on a silver platter, what happened to coming in as a freshman and knowing that you were #3 or #4 on the chart, you gotta freaking earn it man! We still have Etlig, Harris, Lindsey Scott, Justin McMillan on the roster who all have EXPERIENCE....has anybody seen Myles Brennan play one snap vs. Alabama, or Florida?? You get all butt hurt about us offering another QB, that is WEAK!!

A non-mobile qb isn't going to do you much good if you can't protect him.

Jeez, what a melt!
No shite! Everybody would. However, there aren't a whole hell of lot of Drew Brees' in college. There are many more Vicks. And by the way don't forget Vick, as a RS Freshman, led Va. Tech to the national title game.
Just look at some of the great teams over the last 10 years of college football.
Tebow was a dual threat (DT) guy. He led UF to a national title. Auburn doesn't have a title without Cam. They also made it back to the championship game with a DT QB who was just an average thrower at best. Ohio St. and Oregon have had great success with DT guys, so have other teams.
LSU's problem was not that they had DT QBs. It was that they tried to force DT QB's into a very confined pocket-based offense. Square peg/round hole.
You can absolutely win with DT QBs in college. If that is the type of offense O wants to run, then an immobile pocket guy may not be a great fit. If you are going to have a great offense you either have to (a) adjust your scheme to fit your players or (b) recruit the right guys to fit your scheme. Miles didn't do either when it came to the QB spot

Danny Etling (Ensminger) does a great job of distributing the ball to numerous receivers.

Pocket passers don't beat Alabama.
Mobile QB's do

Best kind is one who never loses. And I don't care how they do it.

A mobile QB beats Bama? Try a major OLINE with a QB that CAN throw beats Bama
Posted on 11/30/16 at 2:00 pm to AlaTiger
Agreed ...even Dak was more of a pocket passer these running qbs usually have rocket arms and can't hit the broad side of a barn if it was right in front of them. Big loss for LSU

Thats jsut a bad QB
you need to move around in the pocket and have good footwork, but you don't ahev to be crazy athletic to do that.
Tom Brady isn't winning any foot races anytime soon. Neither is MOST NFL QBs

Then why has no pocket passing QB beat Saban in forever.
Manziel Mobile
Chad Kelly Mobile
Trevor Knight Mobile
Ohio State 3rd stringer was mobile

A QB like Davis Webb (Cal) behind LSU's O-Line can beat Bama.
