Oh look, another

"good thing we didn't get the coach who lost 3 games this year...and hired the one with less than a 30% winning percentage as HC instead"

Thread.

Went 22-4 at fricking Houston. Nuff said

Actually not nuff said...those 4 losses were to UConn, Navy, SMU, and Memphis that if I'm correct, they were double digit favorites in each one of those games...

It was more than just a quarterback. That 2014 Ohio state team was something special. Especially when you had so many get drafted. Come on was it really him or was it Urban Meyer calling plays?

I don't know but there are some stupid idiots on here that would give him reach arounds if that meant he got hired.

Nothing. He is fools gold.

Brought a fancy offense to Houston. One year later, it's figured out and he loses 3 games in conference. The ALL powerful AAC!

Lost to SMU who was beaten 75-22 at home by Navy! Navy scored 75 on SMU, but his offense couldn't score half that.

Doesn't that make Navy's coach a better option?

FSU didn't give a crap about that game just like Bama didn't care when they got ripped by Utah in Sugar Bowl.

But lost to SMU and Louisville just got beat by Kentucky.

Look, he may be the real deal but no one really knows at this point when he steps up in competition. Regardless, he will playing in a weakened conference so he will probably do fine. Baylor ain't coming back quickly. TCU has fallen back to earth. Okie State is..well, it's Okie State there's a ceiling there. Kansas, Iowa State are laughable.

His work as an OC at Rice, Iowa State, tOSU, etc was exceptional.

He has done very well as HC at UH.

Is he a guaranteed success as HC at an elite program? No... Especially with the booster schenanigans in Austin

and thus justify a salary of $5-$6M a year?

Well, he went 6-0 against ranked teams as the coach of a non power 5 school, so there's that.

record setting OC at iowa st & rice, 22-4 as a head coach, destroyed sabans defense with a 3rd string qb. but all you retards are jacking off when lsu hires a 10-25 coach

he went undefeated against 6 top 25 teams, including 2 top 5 teams, at a school with almost no real talent. Made shite quarterbacks look like all-conference players against bama.

that's pretty fricking good. Stop melting, we got the third best option. We'll be fine.

Its about potential in a business that is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. He has the potential, is young. When there are 129 or so FBS schools and only say....4 elite coaches, schools will toss money out there in hopes of catching the next young guy since the SAbans are staying put. If you don't, you are saying you are just waiting for saban to retire. so, he may not be worth it as we will find out soon enough. jUst like NFL QBs...not all are worth their paycheck, but that top tier NFL QB is so important. TEams are willing to shell out millions in hopes of finding the next guy/.

Looks like he took over a good program and is in the process of destroying it. The Houston decline is real!

Tom Herman is the strawman for O supporters.

If they point out that he is unproven, whatever that means, then that makes O appear as though he is on equal footing with Herman.

Herman is not elite (yet at least), but he's clearly very intelligent and a great coordinator. Those are reliable indicators for success in the future. Does that mean he will absolutely succeed? Of course not, but you look for the guy that has attributes that lead to success.

I'm an O supporter now. Like a lot of folks I preferred Herman but Herman is not and was never going to be our coach. There is no argument. Herman will probably win at UT. He has less competition in that chickenshit league. But that doesn't mean that folks should shite on Orgeron. It was prudent to give him the position after Herman was not an option. The lower tier candidates were not exceptional. We don't really know if Herman is exceptional. The bet is that he will be, just not here.
