Is not a good coach. Good coaches have assistants who come and go. Oftentimes, they learn more from the HC than he does from them. But, they leave and the coach still has success with the next guy.

This "he just needs to make good hires" is exactly the same bullshite we heard during the Miles decline, and is likely proof that we have a shitload of alters from other fanbases on here saying the same shite over and over.

lolwut?

You think the HC coaches the whole team? What do you think the coordinators and other coaches do? It's paramount that a HC hires good assistants.

Sure, but good coaches dont need fantastic assistants to succeed. Jimbo and herman are going to have good offenses regardless of who their OC is. Orgerons offense and defense will basically depend entirely on the coordinator

Agreed. That's what Miles was, but he didn't let one half coach. It would be nice to have two astounding "coordinators" that want to work together.

Assistants will always come and go at a school like LSU. The coach has to have an attitude and a philosophy.

On that subject, with Aranda being Herman's college buddy and roommate and Applewhite being a BR native, I'd say the staff would be a little more solid if Herman were the hire.

You're either not thinking this through, or you have no understanding of the game of football. Posts like this make this place hard to take seriously.

I didn't say that, but the repeated logic is that "all O needs are good assistants." The very statement is a tacit admisstion that he would suck without them.

Bama and OSU have been a revolving door of assistants and yet, they still succeed, year after year.

You're completely leaving out 2/3 of the game. Sure, they might have good offenses, but what about ST and D? And, no, they don't have to be "fantastic", never said that...they need to be good, solid assistants. There's a reason as to why Saban surrounds himself with good assistants. There's a reason as to why they talk about the coaching trees of great coaches...

Which is one reason why O should not be the HC.

And then they get HC or NFL jobs somewhere else and we suck again, until we make a "great hire."

I'm still waiting for the Orgeron people to give me his qualifications. Not a list of his similarities with people in LA or how liked he is, his qualifications, because he does have a resume, and it ain't good.

We screamed for years for Les to be a CEO and let his top assistants coach. Now we have an equal or better recruiter and face of the program to do it and everyone yells no

(Obviously I want Herman over everyone though)

Well, part of being a good coach (or administrator in general) is the ability to recognize capability in others. Do you think Orgeron would be able to consistently do that? His history doesn't lead me to believe it.

Therein lies the rub... Les wound-up earning the CEO title here, but he failed to use it, which was his downfall.

O has not earned that title, so I think there would ultimately be issues between him having to manage Aranda and a high powered OC - would he be able to command the respect from his staff, like he does from his team? I don't know...

Then why the hell are you arguing with me?

I'm campaigning here, dude. I'm fighting the good fight.
