I spend too much on tack, though, so I get it.

Of course the only saddle that my horse liked the fit of was the fancy "in" French brand. That sucked to pay for.

Chanel, fendi or Gucci are classy.

Coach and Michael kors are soccer mom trashy.

Why in the hell would you buy your lady something that she believes will make her fit in with the other soccer moms?

I bought her something because every time we go out, she takes my keys and cell phone. She is the guarder of the goods.

But she carries around this big beach ball bag looking Louis Vitton that is nice but not practical every time we go around town. She doesn't want to spend more money and I wanted her to have something that was practical without having to watch her scrounge around for 20 minutes looking for her keys in this monstrosity.

I gave her options, find one you like at Coach and I'll buy it while returning previously ordered....or I can let you buy what you want from where you want.

She chose a simple black purse and clutch from Coach.

I let her read all this feedback and she said "Those bitches are catty if they give that much of a shite about a bag." Apparently, she got her Louis as a gift and doesn't spend her money on stuff like this.

Stitching isn't a selling point on a purse to me (I don't have any experience besides this instance). It's just some bullshite excuse to justify spending thousands of dollars besides look at me. In the end, it's the same Vietmenese woman using the same sewing machine stitching the same shite.

I am so glad that my wife, a great mother and homemaker with an exec/admin career outside the home, and her own sense of style, said to me in response to this thread: leather is leather, spending more than 70-80 dollars on a purse is a complete waste. Sure, I COULD spend 2,000 on a Coach purse, but what a waste of money."

Lucky arse me.

There's not one single bag from Coach that costs anywhere near $2,000.

Women can spend whatever they like or can afford on their accessories and I don't judge them.

I like the way women can spot the fake or knockoff purses from a mile away. My Gf you see the way the C is reversed that's a fake

Stitching in leather goods is important. Look at good shoemakers vs shitty ones. Look at higher end men's bags, like Saddleback vs. some of the small crafts people you see on Etsy.

But, good stitching doesn't make up for the price difference between a 500 dollar and 2500 dollar bag

I own a saddleback briefcase, wallet and planner. I'll die before they're shot.

Coming from a female here...I do agree with the others that Coach is now past its prime and is seen as a brand everyone can afford, therefore making it less desirable. Once the outlet opened at Tanger, the appeal wore off quickly after. I personally hate any bag that has a logo plastered all over it. Kate Spade is a safer choice and you can often find a 20% off full price coupon.

With that being said, if I had to pick from those four I would go top left where the logo is much more subtle.

ETA: I realize the way I worded that sounds snobby - didn't mean it that way. I'm just stating what the public opinion is now. It's part of my job to analyze trends and what makes things popular or not. Also...

Same, although I moved to a different wallet.

I bought the briefcase in 2010, and it's not even close to broken in at this point.

That briefcase is still stiff as a board except for the buckle strap.

You can also find good deals on real Kate Spade bags off Amazon. That's how I got mine for only $180.
I had won a $100 Amazon giftcard from work...so the bag only cost me $80.

Never pay full price when you can always find it on sale.

Amen - and then when I'm tired of it, I sell it on Poshmark and make a decent amount of it back!
