I'm a San Antonian. The Spurs are our only pro sports team. They're also the most successful franchise of the past two decades and are tied for most titles won by any pro franchise in the state.

I don't give a damn about Pop's politics or those of any other public figure. So long as he keeps bringing championship parades to the Riverwalk

In the red state that is Texas

This. It's the true beautiful game.

I root for the Spurs for civic pride and basketball reasons. Period.

Bill Clinton skated and these people want to run Trump into the ground.

I like to not have politics shoved down my throat when I watch football. I've already been boycotting the NFL this year.

Not allowed. You must only support people who share your views. Different political ideology? Can't support that person.

Different religion? Can't support that person.

And then we get into the important differences.

Marvel vs. DC? No support.

Team Edward vs. Team Jacob? No support.

Toilet paper over vs. under? No support.

Scotch vs. Bourbon? No support.

Season 3 vs. Season 4 of The Wire? No support.

Nsync vs. Backstreet Boys? No support.

AC Slater vs. Zach Morris? No support.

Ginger vs. Mary Ann? No support.

Would you be ok with commentary arguing that gays are bad while watching your lesbian porn?

There are tons of homophobes in the NBA. I don't care.

One's inability to compartmentalize basketball from the personal lives of its players comes across as a very feminine quality.

To be fair, these three issues are the odds-on favorites to kickoff WWIII

I think we are drifting in understanding each other. I will leave this conversation with this. Sports should not be injected with social commentary (other than humor or something non divisive). It poisons the spirit of sports and if a professional broadcast decides to do so, your product has an agenda that you have all the right in the world to turn off.

I agree. But you're the one doing the injecting. Media are consumed voluntarily. When you listen to the opinions of anyone, it's because you've chosen to do so.

Honestly, I agree. I turn to sports to get away from "real life" nonsense, not to get the sportsman's take on every political issue that comes up.

Rather sports be the unifying force they typically are.

Are you comparing the advertisements of an obscure political pundit, long past his peak popularity to the advertisements of the NBA and NFL

FOXNews is a juggernaut bro. When Glenn Beck offended with his comments, people complained, advertisers pulled away, and FOXNews pulled his plug. So yeah, I'm comparing the two.

FWIW, I don't care one way or the other what anyone else does. I stopped wasting my money on sports and tv a long time ago. The opinions of athletes, celebrities, or the talking heads make no difference to me.
