I've never watched the NBA and very little of NFL besides The Saints. Neither seem to be hurting from my lack of support.
Hopefully eventually.

Goodell's comments are more hypocritical and problematic given their mishandling of discipline and the fact that he's the head of the the league.

But as it relates to Popovich, I think he's gone overboard with the criticisms, but he's at least not as hypocritical as Goodell since he seems to walk the walk; he's also not the head of the league. He's also hilarious and an awesome coach.

In other words, his opinion was an overreaction, but then I don't understand overreacting to an overreaction.

Hijacking sports to cram politics down our throats is not the same as someone buying advertising space. Sorry.

No such thing. You consume media voluntarily.

If you give up the things you enjoy because the people who provide them disagree with you, who's the joke on?

I mean it was a local radio interview and the host essentially told him he's the voice of the people, the people were upset about the outcome of the election, and they want to know if he felt the same way.

I mean he was put in a tough spot, regardless of what he believes.

Besides, it's not like he was going around trying to give national airtime to voice his opinion. We actually had to put some effort into finding or what his opinion is, rather than it being cast upon us.

I haven't watched an NBA game since Jordan left. Stopped watching the NFL about 10 years ago.

I don't know. I'm just summarizing what the radio host said. He was pretty vague.

...by letting them take away from you professional football and basketball? Am I the only one who sees this irony?

They have no idea if you are watching or not unless you are participating in a survey.

Pay for cable that broadcast games? You are giving them money.

This guy gets it. If you want to make an impact then you have to boycott any company that pays to advertise during the games. You can also boycott companies that advertise during the news broadcasts on the MSM. Worked against Target....will work here too. You just have to be loud and go public with it. Others will follow your lead.

Boycotts rarely work, especially long term.

But you're basic arguing that they if they have one, they must cancel their cable packages; ESPN and TNT are usually included, not to mention ABC, NBC, Fox, and CBS are regular channels.

And since they must also boycott, those who advertise, then they are pretty much boycotting the much of, maybe even the majorities of, major establishment in the US across all sorts of sectors (retail, grocery, transportation, film, etc).

Good luck with that boycott.

I've been done with the NBA for about a decade. I've watched one NFL game at a "Monday Night Football party" at someone else's house this year.

I'm seriously probably going to get rid of cable after football season. I watch almost no TV as is.

Starve the beast.
