Hey LSU fans.

Hearing we are close to naming Cohen AD and hiring Cannizaro as HC (don't like Cohen as AD but oh well).

I know zero about him. Care to enlighten me? Good recruiter? Quiet guy or intense?

Thanks

Bright young star but with no head coaching experience. I'd be very surprised if Miss State hired him, I think you can do better

ETA: Before the downvotes

better= more experience, proven winner as HC

AC is young when it comes to college baseball, as he's only been LSU's hitting coach for 2 yrs. Prior to that he was a minor league scout for the Yankees for several yrs. Well liked as a hitting coach but he was not hired as HC for Tulane this past offseason, his old school where he was one of its most famous players. Would be a loss for LSU as a hitting coach but he has no experience as a HC so hard to tell just how good/bad he may be.

Damn, that'd be a colossal jump for him. He's a great recruiter and good hitting coach. I just assumed he'd go somewhere smaller and get experience first though.

Great recruiter, motivator, has grown into his own as a collegiate hitting coach.

I think that would be a desperate move by Cohen hiring a hitting coach with 0 HC experience, only 2 years as an assistant coach at the college level, and expecting Omaha within 3-4 years.

Can't imagine state is going to make Cohen AD. I wouldn't worry.

I thought Cohen as AD was already announced? Would be tough to lose Cannizaro for us, but you'd be getting a good one.

Now that everyone has given you the scoop on Cannizaro, just wanted to say that Cohen is King Douche.

Why can we make Cannizzaro and give MSU our worthless coach?

He has recruited well, but he has had a great location to entice kids to come to. I'm anxious to see if he will have the same recruiting success trying to get kids to come play in Starkville. Pretty big risk hiring a coach with little experience to lead a top 10 program in one of the best baseball conferences in the country. Personally I think he will be very successful, and can't wait to steal him back when PM retires.

Can anyone chime in on what Cannizaro taught our hitters in terms of swing mechanics? Is he a "short to the ball, small movements" type coach? Hit down on the ball? Big actions, slight uppercut? Just curious if anyone knows what he taught as there are differing opinions on swing mechanics.
