Has anyone else felt a little awkward at work after giving notice of resignation and your actual last day of work?

Just gave notice and I can already feel a difference.

No one cares.

It's in your self absorbed mind.

Depends on what type of company and how big it is.

When I gave my notice for a company that only had 3-4 full time employees it did seem a little weird at first.

They are just figuring out who will take your place. You should have a lot better attitude now. If they hate you they will tell you to not bothering coming back for the rest of your time.

You are now an outsider

They should cut the weeks crap out anyway, an employer doesn't give anyone two weeks when they lay you off.

When you're in sales and they escort you to the door it's much easier. Best part is when they told me they would pack up my stuff and send it to me and I told everything I need is already at home.

Tell them all the places you've masturbated while at work.

This is true. The firm will have to hire someone to replace since I am basically the only attorney doing what I do now. Need some time to wind up a few files so I told them I would leave right before Thanksgiving.

You are dead to them. Next week they won't remember you ever worked there. Everyone is replaceable

I hope you didn't forget to use your vacation days in there.

Not awkward in the slightest. I had to do what's best for me and any supervisor with common sense realizes that as well. And if they don't, frick em.

I was ecstatic to give my two weeks at my last job and I actually liked my job and my old boss is a great guy. It was purely monetarily and lack of opportunities to advance that I left and haven't looked back since.

I just came back from a 10 day vacation to Ireland. Told them the day after I returned home.

My company was yuuuuuge and I was expected to work just as much until the bell rang. I felt a bit odd I must say knowing I was exiting.....

This is typically the answer when people are self conscious. Even if they do, frick it. Things are only as awkward as you make them.

It depends on the situation. I've worked on a project before that let about 30 people know 3 months in advance that they would be let go.

While I didn't go pure Michael Scott like when he gave his two weeks, it was nice knowing that I didn't have to sweat the small stuff or worry about reports and responsibilities a minute after my last day.

Hell I wore a ballcap and t-shirt my last day there instead of my normal suit.
