I just graduated in PETE. I'm working 14 on 14 off right now. The operators that I work with told me that they get 2 weeks vacation and 5 personal days a year. I've worked with this company for 6 months and haven't missed a day. Since I haven't missed any time yet Im considering asking to go to the game. What I'd tell them would be that my whole family will be there and we all won't be together again for a long time or my brothers getting engaged there. He actually is getting engaged but not in BR. For people that have had experience with this kind of situation, whats your advice?

Grow up and go to work. Your social life should take a backseat now.

As big as this game appears to be, there will be more in your future just as big or bigger. You're new. I wouldn't risk it for a game.

I can understand not wanting to miss the game.. but it reminds me of a project I was on years ago and for a few weeks we had to work 7 days a week.. And one guy out in the field asked off on the first Sunday and when they told him no he said "but the Redskins are playing"..

Lying to your boss. What could go wrong? Alpha up and do it, they can deal with it if they don't like it, right?

Looks like your only way out is to suck your bosses dick. Good luck.

Although, something tells me that might be satisfying for you.

Do you take off time for that tough week every month?

It's a goddam regular season football game.

Man up, which means grow up.

Be happy that you got an entry level position in production in the current market. They aren't easy to come by these days.

Go to work and watch the damn game on TV.

This shouldn't even be a question. FYI....no one gives a shite you missed a game on your birthday weekend, and they probably don't give a shite that your family is getting together. If this was a death in the family ask for time off, otherwise go to work.

I really don't understand what goes through people's heads sometimes.

You are lucky to have a job. There will be plenty of big games in your future. You will survive. I know.

Grow the frick up man. It sucks but there'll be other games.

I feel your pain though, I'm skipping the bama game because I got three test the following week and I know if I go I'll fail them.
