4-1 with a close loss to bama. 3-2 with wins over bama and UF. He learned a lot from Pete Carroll who is a HOF coach. If he gets the job we will probably see him try and go after lane or sark. Or maybe someone like lane and sark who understands the Pete Carroll Seahawk / USC west coast style offense. Otherwise he may go with a Lincoln Riley type maybe Kendall briles and go to a spread system. With our backs a Baylor style run first from spread would be awesome. If he does one of those and keeps current staff in place I'm on board unless he flops down the stretch

Win the sec and he probably gets it. Right now I'd think he's the leader of the secondary group of options

So we fire Miles and pay his $10 million buyout for starting this season 2-2 with an ultra talented team, only to hand over the program to a guy that goes 3-2 in our last 5 games?

Tell me - what was the point of firing Miles if you're going to hire a guy that loses 2 games in half a season?

Winning out is the only justifiable scenario in which Orgeron should be considered for the job, and even then I still wouldn't be entirely on board given his extensive failures as head coach in the past.

As good as any coach if he can bring in top recruiting classes. It is all about recruiting. Just look at Kirby Smart, he doesn't have Alabama talent and he loses to Vandy.

Uh Les had top classes and didn't do enough

im on board boss. beat 3 of the 5 and compete with bama or win and im board. the recruiting wont be an issue, just get a nice o.c. and keep aranda and most of the staff if not all. Houston we have lift off.

He would have had to have a successful run at being the HC of his own program.

I respect him as a position coach, as a recruiter, as a motivator, and he did an admirable job as interim at SC and so far has done well in the same capacity at LSU. But...the only data we have for when he was given full reign to run his own program is bad. It just is.

Could he do the job? Sure. Maybe. But we know there are others out there with proven success at running their own programs for years. I think you start there if you can.

As for Orgeron, if he truly wants to be a HC then I think the smart move is to parlay this stint as interim into a HC spot at a smaller school and then go from there. That's not a shot at O at all.

So for me, there is nothing that he could do as interim that would make me hire him. All hires carry risk...but some of that can be mitigated by hiring someone with a track record of successfully doing the job you're hiring them for. In this case, we're not hiring an interim coach, we're looking for a long term HC.

Only coach I'd want over Coach O is Tom Herman. If and when he tells us no, then I'm on the O-Train.

Coach O knows football and how to motivate players and has grown wiser since he coached at Ole Miss. I think with a home run hire offensive coordinator and the same defensive staff, we will be back in the top 5 consistently.

It's an entirely different world if Coach O can get this team to beat Ole Miss and Alabama.

He ain't going after Sarkisian. Sark got the USC job over O, in a bitter partisan, politically driven hire. O earned that job.

He's a different man ten tears on from the job at Mississippi, and now from the man who got jobbed in Los Angeles.

And I know he failed at Ole Miss, but you know Belichick failed at Cleveland before he ended up in the right situation. Maybe this is O's
Exactly. I'm not in favor of handing him the keys to the Ferrari yet, but I'm not arbitrarily dismissing him at this point either. The better he does, the harder we should look at him.

Also, be careful of what some on here wish for. If O runs the table and we pass over him again anyway, there's a chance that another SEC team would give him a shot. Do you really want LSU to face a completely pissed off O coached team every year?

No it's not. If that were true we would have won the last 4 titles. Recruiting is a huge portion but X's O's are extremely important.

rooting for him to run the table, and for him to have us look good in all remaining game, and if so, I'm all aboard the CEO-to-stay train.

Win out and Herman/Fisher say no.

This. He has the rah rah shite down, but can he manage a team on his own.
His history has shown that he cannot, and we can't afford to be the experiment to find out if he's gotten better or not.

We just got rid of a head coach who was an elite recruiter. Great talent don't matter, if you don't know how to run a program.

Have an upvote sir. Although most people on this thread won't accept that, it is 100% true.
