How do realtors get paid?

I know the seller pays their fees. And I know the standard rate is 6%. But is it 6% for both the buyer and seller's realtors? Or is it just 6% total?
For example, if you sell a house for $300,000, are you responsible for $18,000 for realtor fees or $36,000?

6% total. Usually 3% to each agent, then their firms take a cut of that. They make good money.

typically 3% by buyer and 3% by seller

Realtors are a fricking waste of money

6% total. Realtors split the fees. They may get 2.5 % each and their companies each get .5%. (Or something similar).

It's 3% each (buyer/seller). If there's only one realtor involved, that one will typically try to claim the whole 6%.
Huge racket.
Huge racket.

A good realtor is well worth the expense. FISBO's can get drawn out. Plus the bidders lowball.

This is common knowledge. As a highly intelligent person you should know this. You are better than this, Tommy. Haha.

6% commission is outdated and obsolete. Zillow and similar sites will continue to drive this down because they are having to work less and less for the money

Real estate agents get paid by the Broker.

According to pornhub, the hot female realtors also get paid by getting sex from their client.

6% both realtors get 3%(5% both get 2.5%) and if they are not real estate brokers they have to work for someone who is a broker and the broker takes half of the 3%.
So realtor sells a house for 200k they make 6k(3%), they give 3k to broker(1.5%)if they are not one, and keep 3k(1.5%)

Real estate agents are no better than used car salesman, except the deal in bigger figures. The problem with real estate agents is they overprice everything so they can make their cut. Look at what they are doing post flood. I've seen some of the biggest pieces of crap homes on the market for $195 sq/ft. They are just ripping people off.

Don't pay 6%. There are plenty of realtors who will do it for less. I recommend a flat fee. For a $300,000 house, offer the realtor $10,000 to sell it. If they don't want to do it, let them know they can leave now and you will make the same offer to the next realtor you see.

Best move i ever made was buying a FSBO house.
Crushed it when I sold with a realtor 6 years later. I got the house at least 50k less than worth. Prob closer to 75K. And the fact it was FSBO meant almost nobody knew it was for sale. So it was still sitting there for me.
Edited: seems if youre smart you can do well selling without a realtor as well. Was not my experience though.
