So you have an ancestry chart that goes back to 1307?!?! Seems difficult. Mine breaks down in Holland in 1600s when people start adopting surnames. Before that your last name was just your father's first name. Hard to trace that.

My brothers a fanatic on ancestry. Traveled to Belgium/France and Germany many times and spent hours in church records. No not 1307,we have many records tracing back to 900. But there are many dead end when you get that far back.

Kings at that time were always extremely short on cash to fight wars. Believe it or not, they weren't all powerful in the Middle Ages.

and the populations were a lot lower so while being king was the biggest deal of the time the number of people they had dominion over was equivalent to large cities today.

For example, in 1300 France had 17 million people, which is more than I would have thought. England had 3 million, which is like being king of St. Louis.

from wiki medieval demography

You don't use wiki for real research but for recreation it works alright

He researched that answer for 9 months... I'd believe in him doing due diligence on his Ancestry.

Right? The pros go to the bottom of the Wikipedia page and use their sauce directory section to go to the primary articles and use those.
