I thought Maple shade was great. A little sweet, but great, especially for its ABV. That's being said, I also think Pliny is a top tier beer and individuals who disagree can suck my nuts.

If it a little sweet for you than it must be like drinking strait high fructose corn syrup

Well that was just unnecessary.... I do believe I will drink but I still like to see what others say, especially those who I find have similar taste as myself.
Unfortunately I won't be able to try it until GR Day so I live through others.

Is it really necessary to try to form an opinion on a beer before you've ever tried it though? Drink the beer. If you love it, great. If you don't, that's OK too. I haven't tried it yet. I'm looking forward to it. Probably won't be able to drink it until GRD Eve either.

Something in the shed could be interesting with all the various garden tools at their disposal. Just make sure rutiger and his krewe aren't in there having a safety meeting.

I get to try it once a year. I wasn't looking for it this year, but happened to be in a place that was serving it real low key.

It used to be a real shite show, with places advertising and lines going out the door and lots of people left unhappy because they didn't get there in time. Then places decided to sell tickets and that was still a shite show - first for the ticket sales, and then the day of the events because even people with tickets ended up walking away with no PTY.

A couple of years ago, The Beermongers got a keg and put it on tap as "Miller Genuine Draft". Now, no self-respecting tap room would ever sell MGD, especially at 7 buck a pint. People figured it out, and word got out to the regulars about what was happening. The Beermongers got moderately busy and the keg blew that day, but their regular customers all got a pint or two of PTY and everything went swell.

Last year, they did the same thing and put it on tap as "Fight Club". The first rule of Fight Club is that you don't talk about Fight Club. Also a great experience - I drank a pint and there were only about 6-7 other people in the bar. Way cool. A couple of other places in town are doing the same thing, now. I'm looking forward to February, when I'm sure the same thing will happen.

Note Jax is talking about Pliny the Younger. Pliny the Elder is pretty easy to find via trades and whatnot. I still think PTE is a fantastic beer and I'm happy to drink it at any time I can. I know there are a lot of "if it's not hazy, it's crap" people out there, but I'm not one of them. Good beer is good beer.
