One partial solution if the game is not played that I haven't seen discussed

The SEC members should amend the rules for this year only, making qualification for the SEC Championship Game based solely on each teams' record within the division. In other words, cross-division games are ignored in determining who wins the division.
This would likely eliminate the scenarios where (1) Alabama goes 7-1 with a loss to LSU and LSU goes 6-1 and Alabama goes to the title game and (2) Tennessee goes 6-2 with a win against Florida and Florida goes 6-1 and Florida goes to the title game.

Then why even play anymore of the cross divisional games if they mean absolutely nothing? I see your point, I just don't see how it would work.

Or you make number of losses the factor for the tie. And then apply the normal tie breakers to the teams with the same number of losses. Would that work?

It has been discussed? Is that what you're saying? Well, I missed it then. If so, Ich bin ein Berliner.

honestly not fair to everyone else. we agreed to play this season under a certain set of rules - to change midstream isn't fair to them.
Sankey fricked this up. He is presiding over one of the only cancelled conference games in the history of the conference and he had a week to prepare for it.

Don't make the perfect the enemy of the good. There are no perfect solutions at this point.

Agreed. But there is no solution that is fair to everyone at this point. We all agreed to the rules with the assumption that all of the games would be played.

He's still got to play Tennessee, so maybe.

The 2 most powerful SEC programs are Bama and Florida, so this is a deadend option.

wouldn't work. Bama/A&M would never go for that being since they played an extra game compared to LSU. They could easily argue that LSU could have lost the extra game given us 2 losses to their 1.

Alleva agreed with a potential vote and/or adjustment of the rules for conference records this year.

No, I haven't seen it discussed. It's a ridiculous idea. You can't change the rules in the middle of a season.

Sankey allowed Foley to call the shots and screwed LSU in the process. Our only hope is that he grows a pair today and mandates the game be played on Monday.

College Football Playoff Committee needs to do something. Maybe say if this creates problems at end of year it becomes an integrity issue and this year's conference championship game just wont carry the weight the games of years past did.

This is what should happen. In the rare event that LSU finishes 6-1 and Bama/AM 7-1 and LSU gets screwed then they should just leave the SEC out of the playoffs

This. The problem is, say LSU wins out and Bama only loses to LSU. They would be voting on a 9-2 (6-1) LSU or a 11-1 (7-1) Bama. The winner of the West probably wins the SECCG. The conference will not take the chance of LSU getting the West via a vote b/c a 2 lose conference champion who only played 11 games will not get into the playoff while a 1 lose Bama team who won the conference would. It's all about $$$$$.

The problem is that there is no way you get all teams to agree, which I'd imagine is required for a mid season rule change.
