I hate homework more now as a parent than I did as a student.

never heard of 4 "projects" all being due on the same day. Not in middle school, high school, college, never ever have I heard of that.
Homework is absolutely out of control for younger kids (3-8th grade)

So what's going on with this?? She's still working on those damn projects???

I'd actually love it. I would get paid for working 11 months instead of 9. Sounds good to me. Now, would I work those extra 2 months for no pay? Doesnt sound realistic, does it.

My daughter (no pics...middle school you pervs) had been doong homework since 4 this afternoon. She has four (4) projects due tomorrow and has actually been working on them this week (so this is not last minute).

Mine is in Kindergarten. Everyday she comes home with 1 book we have to read (Afterwards, I have to write a paragraph as to why we liked it), 2 math sheets, and 1 writing practice sheet.
I'll make sure my boys get your fast food order correct 15 years from now!

Italian kids go to school 11 months out of the year, US teachers would be piss with that schedule.
As someone who has been to Italy, they should go to school for twelve months imo. As for as what you were trying to imply, I am confused. Would US teachers be actual piss, or would they be pissed. Perhaps you should move to Italy and work a tad longer.

Not sure if serious...You do realize that homework mainly exists for 2 reasons. One, to repeat and exercise the brain to gain further understanding of the subject, and most likely, two, to cover things the student did not get a chance to cover during class.
In the real world there are deadlines. Guess what in the world of education, there are deadlines as well. We lost 2 weeks because of the flood. By mid-term, we have to be caught up on all curriculum (which was already jam packed into the allotted time per class) Teachers are now having to fit a 90 days of classes into 75 days. So, some of the work will be added to the home environment. It's okay though, the student should be better for it though.

Been saying this for years. Germany's school system is incredible. If you're very smart, you continue to move on to college and pursue technically advanced degrees. If you're not (and why the frick can't we acknowledge that not everyone is smart just like not everyone can play college sports), then you start learning your skilled trade in high school.
would never work here for demographic reasons. it would be labeled racist with the quickness

i have no kids but I have heard this
i think the issue was alluded to earlier. this is a way to force the lower-end to work in an attempt to bring the lower-higher end closer together
this kind of over-working is the exact opposite of how we should be treating our best and brightest, but the system is set up to almost ignore these kids and try to "save" the lower-end at the expense of properly educating our best and brightest. if our system focused on the best and brightest, then the gap would become MASSIVE and people would flip the frick out

Care to elaborate on the projects? Are they all for the same class, or is it a product of unfortunate timing. I remember having "projects" all the time in middle school for different classes. Can't say I ever had 4 at once, but that's only because I refused to do the extra credit ones.

If these are projects she's known about since the beginning of school, then yes it is.
Most likely the teachers are having to catch up from all the school that was missed with the flooding. They are still required to adequately teach the material, and will be judged on test scores.
Also, what kind of "projects" are these?

And yet America still ranks poorly for quality of education. It's time for year round school.
I'm always curious when the US gets degraded for its educational system, how many of the other countries are including their lower students and Special Ed students? I do think it is amazing the amount of money that is pumped into Special Ed and how little is funneled to our smarter students.

Are they really that underpaid considering they only work a portion of the year? AMIRITE?
This +1. They are paid quite well for 9 months of work. The complainers should get a job during the summer instead of slumming around for 3 months.

Make sure she does it all. There is a direct correlation between not doing homework and getting the dick

I used to stay up and do homework while waiting for the scrambled porn to come in clear when I was that age.
Now I stay up and respond to the shite ton of emails I couldn't get to during the day while waiting for my wife to fall asleep so I can look at porn.
Life.

again
our system has been reconstructed to focus on the lower-level instead of the higher level
Europe is the opposite
anytime a prog tells me how great European schools are i just have to laugh about their white arse privilege spewing out
