Good luck!

Be prepared...after you quit for a couple weeks you are gonna cough up some NASTY gunk as your lungs finally have the chance to purge themselves. So just be prepared for that.

You will notice a major difference like 3 weeks to a month after you quit.

Again, good luck, it WILL get easier I promise

My mother quit after smoking since she was a teenager. Nothing worked, and we had given up on pleading with her. Flu complications put her in the hospital two years ago, and the Dr told her she had to quit, no excuses. That's all it took, and she hasn't smoked since. She walks on the treadmill 18-20 minutes a day now, and they've been able to cut back her blood pressure medication.

yes.

you may not get full normal breathing back. the sooner you quit the better.

you will feel better in a week.

here's the regimen I used.

I used a juicer. citrus in the AM.
carrot celery and cucumber at noon.
broth at dinner. onion, celery carrot
a heavy snack before bed. oats with a banana or blueberries.

take showers often.
use epsom salt baths.
get massages.
do an enema the 2nd day.

do another enema the 5th day.

do that for a few days.

you can have green apples between meals, as many as you want.

exercise. sun bathe. rest. take the weekend off from hard duty.

My uncle did. He was about 20 when he started and 44 when he stopped. He is going on 65 now and has never smoked since he stopped. It took him about a year to start feeling better and stop the cravings.

It's impossible for me to drink and not smoke. I usually buy a pack once a week on the weekend. During the week though, camel snus. Also run 5Ks Sun-Thurs.

I quit cold turkey after 25 years of smoking but only for 5 years, then back to it for 10 years. When I decided I really wanted to quit, and you have to really want to,I used a patch for a little while. Don't vape or dip. You have to break the habit of putting something in your mouth all the time. If you need something in your mouth, chew on a straw. No booze for 2 weeks. You will feel better in about 2 weeks.

Make it the next three weeks and the worse is behind you.

The shite you will be coughing up during this time will repulse you.

I'm in the exact same boat. I turn 40 Saturday and I've smoked 25 years. My mom was recently diagnosed with cancer so I'm putting the cigarettes away tomorrow. My wife is happy. My boys are happy. Me not so much.

Maybe never? You might have COPD.

My dad smoked heavily for over 50 years. Dementia, can't walk, is now blind, COPD and in a nursing home waiting to die. If that won't make you stop cold turkey I don't know what else to tell you.

Considering I bought my 1st pack in 1970 at the age of 6, yes 6, and only quit about 5 years ago....40-ish years of smoking.

Takes a while, like a couple years, to regain your lung capacity. Feeling better? Fuggetabouddet, joo ain't gettin any younger joo nose.

Best bet to quit is hit all your triggers in the 1st week: Eating, drinking, snorting coke off a stripper's tits....the whole works

I had a neighbor who wanted to stop and she tried everything from patches to hypnosis and nothing had a lasting effect. She finally was told by her doctor that she had the beginnings of emphysema and she then just quit. It has been a few years now with no slips. You don't want to have to get sick before you quit. There is something to think about when every medical questionnaire first asks if you smoke.

In about a week, it will begin to get better. In two weeks, you will start to regain your sense of smell. In about three weeks, you will wake up one day feeling really good. Until then, man up.

Congratulations. I won't say that I quit but having been a smoker for close to 50 years, I have significantly cut back. I was smoking at least 1 1/2 packs a day until about 6 months ago. In the past 6 months I have not smoked more than 3 packs of Marlboros and have not smoked any cigarettes since July 2. I even played two rounds of golf without smoking a cigarette (although I did smoke a cigar on the back nine last Saturday). I've wanted to smoke on occasion (while playing golf and after a trial was over) but I fugure that I've gone this far why start up again?

Good luck.

Next month will be a year for me. Quit cold turkey. I still get cravings but they're not overwhelming like at first.
