The Prince and Coach O are very close. He was asked by Coach O if he would want to be his personal assistant. That is a position you can't turn down. The radio will always be there for him.

Prince is now a flunke for O. Derek has connections and it will help take some of the strain off of him. It's not a bad decision to add a guy that has the ear of the fan base.
I'm not really trying to minimize Derek's role because I really think it will help the program and O.
Don't be fooled, O is coaching to keep this job and he is trying to surround himself with the right people to help him do that.
