My son is 14 5'5" and about 120#'s. He plays QB and can sling it. Throws an incredible tight ball and is very accurate. 2nd fastest on his 8th grade team.

He decided to quit football and play golf and guitar. He quit before the season started so the coaches could adjust.

Because he did this, I have been able to play golf with him twice a week and we will be able to hunt every Saturday together. I'm proud of my son because he's my son.

I encourage you as Fathers to not try to live out your dream through your children. Let them make choices, guide them, and bless their decisions. It will truly relieve the unneeded stress in your relationship. Don't miss an opportunity.

Your son is wise beyond his years, but hopefully he learns not to be as self-righteous as his pops.

I expect both my sons to play pro sports if they want a proud daddy.

It's good that you're encouraging your son to do what he wants.

But this is one of the reasons I know I shouldn't have kids/don't want them. That would piss me off.

I had sons who all took different paths. We talked, they made the decision at about 16. Coaches were not happy but it was the right decision. You should be commended

Your son couldn't make it anyways but it is his choice in the end.

Good for him as well as you. I hope he makes the PGA or gets a Grammy. It's not for everyone and the health issues are concerning. God Bless

Good call. Has he considered being a jockey? Or a cross country runner?

I will be happy if any of my kids grows up to want to do any sport at all. Or any worthwhile activity.
