No way there were 50 minutes of show last night. There may have been 40. I'd guess 35. so 2 out of 35 minutes.

Just popping in to say Carl was cast so poorly. He is a midget, and I am sure his parents are, too. They should have cast someone who would grow into a big dude.
After last night, Carl should end up like Shane on steroids, but he's too damn small to pull it off. Such a waste.

Thing is nobody knows what would happen if you killed Negan, cutting the head off the snake. Here is what I do know, that group would probably be a bit disorganized. Also, who knows if his followers would follow the orders of a dead man. Add in the fact that Rick's group would be well armed and in defendable positions negating the numbers disadvantage.
This is going to be All Out War right? Well that's how they should fight this war in order to win.
Well armed? Eugene hasn't even made a single round yet so they have very little ammunition to pull that off. Alexandria has maybe 50-60 people in it. Negan's group is well into the hundreds. Remember that entire satellite location where Rick got all murdery in last season? Not to mention that was kind of the point Negan was trying to make. He is not to be fricked with. I'm pretty sure you just don't bounce back from something like that. It's going to be interesting to see where they go from here with the TV story and how far and or close they stick to the comics storyline.

quote:Ahhh, because you can just call your sniper friends you know during a zombie apocalypse?
when Neagan comes knocking at the front gate I'd open it, raise a pistol to his head, and pull the trigger. Snipers would be positioned to take out the rest of his crew.
Also, Negan has them vastly outnumbers, so how exactly is the problem solved? You just basically killed off your entire crew/town.

I personally would've much rather had Daryl be killed than Abraham. Abraham was good for some great one liners and some comic relief. Daryl's storyline doesn't seem to be able to go much further from a character building standpoint. And while the initial shock would've been huge if Daryl would've met Lucille, I think most everyone would've gotten over it (even the women fans) after a few episodes.
While I agree with you, this episode brought everything back into alignment with the comics' story line.
If they were going completely off script, Maggie would have been my choice to get the bat. Until this point, she has been one of the least interesting characters in the show, yet important enough for it to sting watching her get her head bashed in.
ETA: Can you imagine the insane amount of pearl clutching and fake outrage if one of the women have gotten beaten like that? The SJWs would have been out in full force to shut down AMC.
Especially if it was Sasha or Michonne.

quote:Negan is such a good character, I can see them stretching it more than 1 season.
but I can see them getting a lot of mileage out of this, perhaps even more than a season. Neegan can make the group do things they wouldn't normally do now and take them in all kinds of new directions.
Maybe by the end of this season, somehow someway Rick's crew gets the upper hand and goes on the offensive, or just gets away but Negan survives. Then they can do another season of Negan trying to regain control of the group or Rick's crew coming back to finish the job and kill Negan.
Something along those lines, I can see them getting 2 seasons out of this storyline.

quote:That was solid.
My favorite Negan quote so far was "you look at me like I shite in your scrambled eggs"
It's not terribly creative but it's hilarious the way he said, "Shut that shite down!" a couple of times, I couldn't stop laughing the 2nd time.

I guess I don't get it. By next episode I would have written Daryl off as dead. In war there are casualties and he's a soldier. Then when Neagan comes knocking at the front gate I'd open it, raise a pistol to his head, and pull the trigger. Snipers would be positioned to take out the rest of his crew.
It' was a plan exactly like that which got them in this mess to start with.
And what makes you think Negan will nesscessarly even be there for the pickup.
Or that he wouldn't have snipers of his own hidden if he was.

Carl is actually way ahead of his comic-self at this point. In the graphic-novel he is still a small child where they are in the show.

Now, I will say that it's getting harder and harder to take Carl serious. He just sounds like a little bitch. The perfect person to play Carl would've been 1991 Michael Fishman (DJ from Rosanne).

This is actually pretty common. Off the top of my head.
Alex P. Keaton / Family Ties
Bud Bundy / Married With Children
The Militant Midget / Good Times
All their fathers were big dudes.

Rick's group can't beat them. Their only hope is for Eugene to figure out a way to make a shite-load of bullets and to also come up with a way to utilize some weapons of mass destruction type shite. I don't think fire is used enough or at all in this show. It's terribly destructive and can take out large groups at a time.

I really liked the idea someone had that I thought would have been more effective. Show the Abraham death in the finale, and then the Glenn death would have been an absolute curveball in the premier.
was just thinking about this. would have been tremendous

Fully aware of that. This isn't the comics, and people get older. Should have foreseen this turn of events; it is a no brainer. My two cents.

Just read reviews from IGN, AV Club, Forbes & Den of Geek.
All 4 gave this episode a thumbs down.
I think I have to agree. It was successful in setting the tone for this season, but as a season premier it seemed much to drawn out its dramatic moments lost some of their power due to the time it took to get to them.

To me his delivery of the "shite in your scrambled eggs" line is what made it hilarious. JDM is killing it as Negan.

They don't have to. Do you see the scared looks on all of Negan's people? Dwight is scared shitless of the guy. Simon looks to be as well. They all know he is a sociopath, but are in too deep at this point.
All Rick's group has to do is survive long enough to find a way to subvert his authority, save Daryl, and get people to believe that Negan is beatable. Incite a mutiny and Negan loses. The key will be having Rick take control once the mutiny happens.

IGN gave the episode a 6/10. Hardly a thumb's down
And the author of the article sounds exactly like the pussy SJWs on my Facebook newsfeed with the "OMG THIS WAS TOO MUCH!!!"
It's hilarious how upset the special snowflakes got.

Walking Dead's Season 7 premiere was an uncomfortable crawl through broken glass, with an escalating sense of cruelty that never let up until the survivors were left on the road to scoop up their loved ones' carcasses. Morgan's Negan provided some moments of levity (if you could even consider it that) and the big second death was a shocker, but you want to leave an episode feeling shaken and riveted, not numb and in need of a shower.

That's why I said that one bullet to Negan's head when he comes to collect his first load would pretty much take care of this problem. His followers follow out if fear, not loyalty. Even if they would want to fight Rick's crew they would be disheveled and disorganized. They might even just walk off because they aren't there for a cause, they're there because Negan is ruling by brutal force.
