When I eat sushi, I dunk the entire roll into soy sauce (with my fingers) and I never use the ginger.
I eat my freedom fries with mayonnaise.
I call grilling hot dogs a "BBQ"
Why don't Mexican restaurants serve Mexican flavored Rice-a-Roni?
It's not a gumbo without tomatoes.
I went to China and no one knew what General Tso's chicken was, can you believe that?
England has the greatest cuisine.

it is a fricking soup with meat and vegetables. There is nothing special about that.

I would think the Yank's an idiot about the gumbo if his gumbo tastes like shite. That's why I judge food on the taste and not my feels.
FWIW the best pho I've ever had is at Mopho in NOLA. I'm pretty sure the cook who started it is white. It's not exactly traditional pho though and it doesn't pretend to be.
ETA: it's the only pho so good that I don't put siracha or hoisin in it.
