Check out The Long War Series, first book is killer of men by Christian Cameron or Gates of Fire by Stephen Pressfield.

These are historical fiction but isn't all Homeric based history?

Dan Carlin's latest series of HArdcore History, King of Kings is on the Greco-Persian War and great as always.

Two that kinda sorta meet your description and are good reads:

Anabasis by Xenophon - about a group of 10,000 Greek mercenaries fighting in a sort of Persian civil war and them trying to get back home. Narrated by the guy who actually led the group.

Creation by Gore Vidal. About a guy who was the grandson of the religious founder Zoroaster who later serves as an ambassador for Darius and at one point is stationed at Athens.

And here is a site which lists a ton of novels about ancient times including Greek/Persian stuff that I stumbled across when trying to recall the name of the Vidal novel:

Historical Novels

Not sure how good any of those are but you can check out the list and see what appeals to you.

It's a jump from the Persian wars, but if you are really interested in learning more about Ancient Greece and war, you need to read Thucydides' account of the Peloponnesian War. The parallels to modern warfare and diplomacy are fascinating. It reads almost like a novel. Definitely pick it up.

Gates of Fire by Steven or Stephen (sp?) Pressfield is the best option. I read tons of Greek and Roman literature both fiction and non, and after stumbling across this gem; the bar was set.

Check out "The Ten Thousand", by Michael Curtis Ford. It is written as a novel, so it moves quickly and keeps up your interest.

"A war like no other " by victor David Hansen is pretty good book about all of the wars the Greek states fought during that era.
