Will the pumpers backslide to Les

Will a win, even a typical...close game at half and blow them out late win, weaken the resolve of the "former" Les supporters? I ask this because a handful of posters have defended Les like he was OJ and they are the dream team. Quite a few former Les fanatics have stated that they want him gone. I just wonder how they will feel after a win (hopefully). Breakups are difficult. It will be interesting to see.

Nobody , or at least very few, on this board have any significant influence on how this plays out. I'll be pulling for the team and let the chips fall where they may.

Calling Miles the most successful coach in lsu history and posting FACTS about his tenure doesnt make you a fanatic. Its called reality. Its time to move on but dont act like the fanatic was the person that was standing on facts.

It will start getting back to normal when we have 1 loss going into the Bama game.

They're already defending him. Several get all pissy when you call their hero any derogatory names. It's hilarious really.

A win against Jacksonville State? Even a win against Mississippi State?
No.
They'll tell you we have to win at Auburn. To me, we just need to win one of the games @ Auburn and @ Florida. Then beat Ole Miss. We need to be 6-2 going into the Alabama game.

If we win out up to Ole Miss there will be some that think that those cupcakes should just keeping Les around. If we pull an upset versus Ole Miss or Bama the sunshine pumper will be out in force.

I don't think so. Too much damage has been done at this point.

As a true fan you should support your team and stay away from distraction no matter who the coach is. Talking about firing Miles right now only hurts recruiting.

If Etling and or Scott see the field, and we win decidedly then depending on how the next two games go I will go back to full sunshine pumper.
As of right now I'm neutral on everything.

If he finds a way to beat AU, UF, and MSU I'll be impressed.

All the evidence in the world pointing to a guilty verdict will be ignored by the Pumper People though. He'll be found innocent no matter what.
Watch, we'll beat JSU this weekend and bad times in Lambeau will all be forgotten. They'll look away, look away, they'll look away because they're living in fantasy land............

Some of them already are.
A few never left. And never will.

I want this team to win every week. I will cheer for the team. I have their back. Miles will be replaced this year. I choose not to whine like a child throwing a "fire everyone now" tantrum. Geaux Tigers!!!

I think a strong and convincing win today will give us some hope, esp if the mistakes of last week are not repeated (OL being lost, ST screw, poor WR catching, etc)
but I don't think there will be any "backsliding" based on today's game. if we begin to win and play crisp, well executed football and it appears last week was an aberration then, yes, there will be backsliders. i'll probably be one of them.
i'll add that I do not expect that we will begin to play with very good execution. I fully expect the late play calling, missed blocks, penalty laden, non threatening passing game and lousy punting and kicking to continue. probably not near as bad as last week though. there seems to be serious dysfunction in the key pieces of our O; OL, QB, WR and TE's. they do not play fundamentally sound football, regardless of the "scheme". which, by the way, I doubt this O could execute a spread offense either.

I have and always will pull for the Tigers. Never hated on CLM nor stuck my head in the sand about play calling, offense qb's and so forth kinda felt like family, tiger fans could praise him or cuss him but no one else could. Now sloppy play has gone beyond offense and other signs of under achieving are hitting us head on. I will say thanks for 11 good years and good luck but the game has passed you by. Time for a change. A part of me hates it and part of me is ready. I might be wrong but I think this sums it up for lots of tiger fans. GEAUX TIGERS!!

Where's my pump oil?

Of course they will. Tonight after the game they'll be here in force with their talking point cards, ready to tell us his record, stats, and other human interest tidbits about the man they have a major man crush on.

I think lsu comes back strong the next several games and goes into ole miss with 1 loss.
That's where the trouble starts. Again.
Doesn't change the fact that we need a new coach.

I don't know what game you were watching. We did NOT blow JSU out. The punt return was a back breaker, but the offense went cold after the 2nd quarter rush. The 3rd string QB completed a single screen pass in garbage time. The backup went 0fer in the second half, after an excellent 3 drives in the 2nd quarter.
The defense is porous, although stingy on points. I've never been a fan of "bend but don't break" - I like a smothering defense like we had in 2011, but those days seem so remote now. If they do not improve on 1st and 3rd down efficiency, we are going to get gobs of points on us in SEC play - points that our offense is not constructed to make up I might add.
Etling could save Miles' job and get him to 140 wins - which I think is his career goal for LSU and he will retire shortly after that milestone (pardon the pun) is reached.
