Tom Hanks is one person I wouldn't want to travel with.

Stranded in Space, Stranded on an island, held hostage by pirates, riding in a plane that is going down. This guy can't catch a break on his travel plans.

Those were all just movies. None of that shite could happen in real life.

That's a handful of trips out of thousands. Not too bad odds.

I'm unreasonably annoyed by how this keeps getting repeated, but nobody bothers to mention Hanks also got stuck in an airport for fricking weeks when there was a coup in his home country.

He survived and brought home Apollo 13, He survived and found his way back home in Cast Away, he survived and lived to tell the story in Captain Phillips, he survived and successfully emergency landed a commercial flight on the Hudson River in Sully...not to mention living in an airport in Terminal and figuring out all the clues and surviving the adventures in Dan Brown's books.

TEAM TOM

You want to travel with Matt Damon. The US government wall spend any amount of money to go fetch his arse.

I'm traveling with Tom Cruise. I can't stand him but he gives the Scientology cult millions so there's no way they're letting his dumbass off the radar for long.

The man can't even relax when he is home. Have you seen his neighbors?

quote:

I've always told people that if I met or ran into some extraordinarily famous actor/actress (like a Tom Hanks, Leo DiCaprio, or George Clooney), I'd reference some extremely random movie from early in their career as how I know them, which is a great way to make a memorable impression.

I tried that once with good results. A few years ago, I ran into William Shatner, who is known for be a prima donna. Anyway, I didn't say a damn thing about Star Trek and just said "I thought you were great in "Judgement at Nuremburg." He got a big ol' smile and talk for about five minutes about how great that cast was (and it was a great cast - Spencer Tracy, William Lancaster, Judy Garland, Werner Klemperer, Marlene Dietrich, etc.) and seemed genuinely please I didn't tell him to live long and prosper.
