So before people start acting like thise birds are bought and paid for might want to actually get the while story.
I don't think anyone accused you of hiring a guide fwiw.
quote:we were just spitballing. And if you drop all non LA hunts then you cut out a bunch of people entirely from the thread which I don't think was anyone's goal.
So if we are dumping canada, which is legal hunts, then why not drop everything outside of LA. I can bitch I dont have all the birds in the reg season some boys are ahooting so its not fair.
If anything, everyone on the OB has a tremendous amount of respect (and envy) for you and others who make a canada hunt, even more so doing it freelance.
Eliminating paid for hunts makes more sense to me than eliminating birds by geography, but if the board wants to make it LA only then have at. I'll still stalk the thread and bomb it with my Oklahoma birds even if they don't count.

Yea if all that work y'all did in Canada was totally freelance then dang, that's impressive. Y'all drove trailers and shite up there or what?

It doesn't really bother me about the guys going to Canada on guided hunts. I understand it skews the point totals, and if there was actual prizes at stake it might be a different story.
I just enjoy seeing peoples hunts from different parts of the country, and as someone alluded to earlier, it makes me feel better when I realize others are struggling to scratch out birds too, haha. I basically only hunt public land and then a few times a year on my friends leases.
As far as the guided hunts go, I see no real distinction between going on a guided hunt, and one of my friends calling me and telling me to come to his lease because they have scouted and have a bunch of birds.
But this is just one man's opinion, and regardless of the rules or format, I'll participate again and try to scratch out my 20 to 30 birds haha

We have a trailer of dekes and blinds we leave in canada. We stay at a farmers house and pay him rm and board. We leave the trailer at his place. Rent trucks in saskatoon and head out. We have maps of the area we hunt that tells us what land is owned/ farmed by who. Then we call and get permission once we find em. Its not just set up and hunt. There is work behind it. U may find a pond full of birds bit have to figure out where they are going to feed. Never hunt the roost ponds.

Thats because you're going up there next year.
We need two more OBers to make the trip. A week in Alberta for cheap.

No shite!!! Y'all can take my Canada points off if it makes you feel better.
I was on a guided hunt and all I did was drink whiskey and pull the trigger a lot.
I'm like a duck.
