ETA UPDATE: LINK

quote:

State Police identified the bus driver as Denis Yasmir Amaya Rodriguez, of Honduras, who turned 37 earlier this month. Amaya — who had no driver's license — admitted to troopers that he was in the United States without necessary immigration documents and was driving a group of largely Honduran workers from New Orleans to Baton Rouge to assist in relief efforts following the devastating flooding there earlier this month, Trooper Melissa Matey said.

Just got this message:

Knew something was going on. Been hearing sirens all morning. Way too much activity for a Sunday morning. And a helicopter just flew over my house in that direction.

Damn, hate when this shite happens.

Man, not good. At least it's daylight for the S&R folks to work in. Those incidents are even tougher at night.

That's terrible. This is why I am such a defensive driver and try to stay away from other vehicles on the road. I do not want to die in a car wreck.

He should serve serious time. Unfortunately he will just be deported where he can slip back over the border again.

Also, your title makes it sound like they were coming to help people with flood relief, they were coming looking for work, not out of the goodness of their hearts.

[Insert Owlie Joke Here]

Edit. Apparently they were coming to volunteer? Mea culpa, if true. I remain skeptical.

If I had just caused that accident and was in the country illegally, I would claim I was a volunteer too.

At some point, American's will get tired of illegals driving on the roads and being in this country illegally.
