GoT - discussion on Cersei's inevitable demise (some spoilers)

At this point, the prophecy about Cersei's death seems more likely to point to Jaime than Tyrion, particularly because of how prophecies typically play out: it's worded in such a way to make the outcome seem obvious, but a literal translation reveals the real truth to be something different. Also I think it's more liekly considering the predictable outcome of Cersei trying to burn down King's Landing entirely and Jaime following up his kingslaying with a queenslaying.
Considering how predictably this seems to be playing out, I think I'd rather Tyrion strangle her to death in some sort of twist, but I'm not banking on it. What do you think is going to happen?

At this point, I don't see anyone else except Jaime killing her. I don't think he's going to be able to handle seeing her burn everything to the ground after he killed the Mad King for that very reason. And push their only living son to his death (even if just figuratively).
I'd be particularly pleased with a scenario in which he much choose Brianne over Ceresi as well.

Forget the prophecies, it just makes for a better story if Jamie kills her IMO. Their actions for better or worse have been tied togeather for the entire series.
Jamie, for all his worrying about his legacy, will go down as a kingslayer, queenslayer and kinslayer. Everyone in the realm won't understand that he did it all for them, he will have saved thousands of lives by killing his sister and the mad king but forever have his name will be mud.
Tyrion killing her would be satisfying but fairly unimpactful sense he is already a kinslayer. He is already a shitstain on the family name, killing her would just improve that rep. Him owning the Rock will be revenge enough for him.

We talking show or book? I'm guessing book due to the level of details.
That's a nice touch. I agree that Jaime is the most likely one to bleed the bitch. The stage has been set for him to turn on her for the good of the land (unlike the Show where he has been reduced to a sniveling boy-toy)

I still think he's going to kill her in the show.
You don't think the look he gave her during her coronation hinted that??

If I had to bet, my money would be on Jaime. But the show has in the past shocked me enough times for me to hold out hope that it is not as predictable as seems in this case. I agree it's a better story if Jaime kills her but it's not as good for me watching the show since that's exactly what I'm expecting.

Ever since I read the Maggie the Frog prophecy chapter, I've been convinced it was multi-faceted.
The "younger" brother has been bringing her down since very early:
Ned
Renly/Stannis
Tyrion
(maybe) Sandor
Tommen (most recently)
Jaime will just be the final straw, IMHO, and the one that will hurt her the most - her (younger brother) twin.

Well, this discretion that Jaime will strangle her to death is obvious for the reader/viewer, but it is not to Cersei. It's clear the thought that Jaime may be the Valonqar hasn't even crossed Cersei's mind. That's why it's satisfying because it will catch Cersei completely off guard, and she'll realize in the end how much of a dumbass and crazy she actually is.

Or maybe she does realize more than we think.
It would be fitting for the tone of the story to start the season with Cersei killing Jaime to eliminate one of the threats of the prophecy and shocking the hell out of us all.

Maybe on the show, but I'm very confident in the books she's never remotely considered it. If she had, she would have treated Jaime better than she has in the past 3 books. Her focus is completely on Tyrion and Margeary, and can't see past anything else.

Jaime has to do it. Sure, we will see it coming, but it's one of those things you see coming and hope to God it happens.
It's the only way (in my opinion).

I think Tyrion kills her when he comes back to Kings Landing riding on a dragon.

I agree with this somewhat, but Cersei is very focused on the fact that Tyrion is the little brother and always has been. She isn't considering anyone else.
The Queen though, I'm pretty sure that is multifaceted. Any women who may be more beautiful than Cersei and has any shot of becoming a Queen, I think that Cersei will look at as the one from the prophesy. First it was Sansa, then Margeary. Now we've got Dany coming into play with Tyrion being her hand, as well as Arianne who looking like will become Aegon's Queen.
Cersei will always find another Queen that may be more beautiful than her, but I think that once Tyrion is dead she would think she beat the prophesy, without any second thought aside from gloating.

Comatose Khal Drogos are still trying to figure out who Cersei is.

Oh, I agree. Cersei is as responsible for blaming Tyrion for killing their mother as Tywin is, quite frankly. Where Jaime treated Tyrion like a sibling, Cersei, from a very young age, treated him like an animal.

It's fair to say she's been far more flexible and open-minded as to who this younger, fairer queen could be and shifts targets with relative ease compared to her single-minded fixation on Tyrion.
Hell, it could end up being Euron or Victarion for all we know.

I don't think he won't. My point was more to how they have sullied his character in the show. They started to get him right and then turned him into Cersei's whiny courter bowing to her every bid. He became quite a strong character in the books, yet in the show there have only been a couple of flashes.
I still have hope they get him right

I would love to see the next season end with Jon riding into Kings Landing to see Jamie sitting on the Iron throne after killing cercei. Much like Ned after he killed King Aerys. That would be badass. This time Jamie gets to keep the throne.
