Greatest "second act" bands

Few artists find success after their original fame bands - even supergroups generally don't pan out. But the Foo Fighters thread on the Movie board got me thinking about this. I've never paid much attention to the Foo Fighters (and hated Nirvana), but damn - Dave Grohl has put out some good music with them.
Just off the top of my head, Damn Yankees was solid but brief back in the '80s.
Van Hagar is an obvious choice, though more from Sammy Hagar's perspective since for Van Halen it was really just a lead singer change as opposed to a new band.
Velvet Revolver is probably my favorite second act band - especially since it's a rebirth for both Slash and Weiland. Unfortunately their reign was too short-lived as well.
Who you got?

I wonder if The Winery Dogs can count for this. Power trio with Richie Kotzen, Billy Sheehan, and Mike Portnoy. Slamming hard rock band with three musicians that have played with numerous groups.

Chris Robinson is having a helluva time with CRB after saying buh-bye to brother Rich and the Black Crows.

Traffic
Though Blind Faith was better, but they're Winwood's 3rd act and was technically a super group.

Fugazi. Actually, I think that's Ian MacKaye's fifth band, after Minor Threat, Egg Hunt, Teen Idles, and Embrace. But clearly, Minor Threat was the big one. Guy Picciotto invented the genre of emo with Rites of Spring (much to his regret) along with Brendan Canty before forming Fugazi with MacKaye. Pretty good legacy.

Buffalo Springfield and Neil Young separately evolved but turned into CSNY, however you would like to classify that.

Care to explain what's wrong with hating Nirvana (never met anyone who grew up in the '80s that liked them) and still thinking Grohl put out good music with the Foo Fighters? Two completely different styles of music.

Winner.
Don't know why this didn't cross my mind. I literally just downloaded their greatest hits this past weekend and listened to it on my drive to and from Dallas.
