didn't care for it at first but need to give it another shot after all the patches.
yea I played the preview before it was released, didn't care for it.
the patches have improved it immensely, especially the planet landing one. didn't even realize aliens would be in it till that 2.2 patch mentioned them.

honestly, id been waiting for you to flip sides ever since you bought it
with how fast you flip flop on games, i knew it had to be coming for NMS
not gonna lie, I kinda saw it coming when I bought it. bought it more for long term future updates investment and wanting to take part in a unique experience on console.
I'm cool giving a game a chance and jumping on the hype train. if it doesn't suck me in pretty fast I'll jump off in a heart beat. the downside being I've blown good money on those over hyped trains. but I'm ok with that, count them as learning experiences. plus lots of those overhyped games just need good updates to fulfill the hype or become a more playable game. at which point I'll go back and not regret buying it.

Sean Murray's extremely vague remarks about his own game and intentionally not talking about the game's features would be absolute red flags with any big developer. But nahhh, they are innocent indie devs with a big dream.
There was no way that they could live up to the hype and speculation but they did absolutely NOTHING to deny any claims and possible features in the game or admit their lies, whether unintentional or not, all of them vague.
Sean Murray's purpose for being so vague was to let us discover everything but he really knew that his game wasn't shite but he still wanted all the money.
People love to blast Ubisoft (myself included), but NMS is immune because it's an indie developer. no sir.
i cant wait for Sean's next big letter to fans
if Deus Ex sucks when it's released next tuesday, yall can troll me all yall want

I think some reviewers were being generous in giving it a 6. An attempt to stave off at least some of the sick fanboys.

I agree. the sean murray apologists are hilarious

It took a lot of time for Elite Dangerous to get there though. The first version of ED was nothing more than a glorified trucking sim with the occasional dogfight. I'm not defending NMS by saying ED was crap at launch, because at least Frontier Games released it as a $30 Alpha/Beta/Whatever the shite they call early games these days, then they had another $30 upgrade when Horizons came out (which I still need to get). The current version of NMS is a beta. It's no where near finished, and it's a shame it was priced at $60. It's a $30-40 game in it's current state - tops. Doesn't mean you can't get $60+ worth of enjoyment out of it, but for the majority of players it is not worth it yet.

I'll be the first to admit, the guy sucks
I can definitely understand why people aren't exactly happy with the game, but I'm enjoying it, but I just think it's awesome how I haven't been on a planet that's been anything like another one I've been one, granted, I've only been one 35-40 of them so far.
Improvements can definitely be made, but to say it's a shite game I think is going to far, but Murray and the uber fans more than anyone else definitely hyped it up to something that it was never going to be.

It's a cool game but pretty "basic bitch" right now. I look forward to mutliplayer.

Everyone says this but the game is so massive how often are you going to actually run in to anyone?

I don't see why people would want to do multiplayer in this type of game anyway.
If you just like to explore, you'd get wiped out every 5 seconds by cheesers who exploited the game to get a max ship and weapons and just want to mess with people. Sounds like a real blast...

Most people don't like it. It's not a big deal.

Anyone who watched the videos leading up to this would expect exactly what the game turned out to be.
Also I'm not getting any specifics on what the game is missing that they were promised, and how Murray lied to them.
This game might be disappointing from a PC perspective, but from a console perspective, this experience blows anything else comparable out of the water.
The only thing that comes close is Mass Effect and its 100 year load times between each area. Even it has a lot of the same problems as NMS relative to generic locations and buildings.

Guessing you haven't played elite dangerous?
From the little bit I've played of elite last night and today, it's a lot more in depth and realistic compared to NMS. If you want kid friendly simplicity, NMS is for you.

The game sucks. If it were 20 that would be reasonable
