Well since LM is staying at LSU, he could really help himself out but not talking to MICH. Why fan the flames? Why create a story for the press? Why not just SHUT UP!

because that would require intellegence and common sense .. especially the month before the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ..

specs1, you're the most pathetic, negative poster on this board. You never miss an opportunity to run down Les Miles. Sad.

How is it running down Miles to say he should not talk to Mich and should just let the story die?
What positive for LSU has come out of his Friday conversation w/ Mich AD and Pres?
My allegiance is to LSU, not Les Miles. I want LSU to win, regardless of who the coach is.
Please realize that the Detroit Free Press did not get the story wrong. They reported a conversation happened. Les confirmed. There would not have been a story w/out the contact.
So again how is it running down Miles, to say he should not have contact w/ UM and should simply keep his mouth SHUT??????

What is the advantage of a coach signing a contract extension that everyone knows it is not worth the paper it is written on in terms of guaranteeing a long term commitment by the coach. Didn't Miles, Saban, and Petrino all have long term contracts prior to changing jobs. How was talking to Michigan helping to keep down the rhetoric and keeping the Tigers focused on the championship game? Miles no matter his explanation just fanned the flames.

Quote from article about Miles' salary:
That blogger must make some serious cheese to think that 1 mil / year raise is a "small boost".
And if he wins the MNC, he becomes at least the 3rd highest paid coach in the country. What more could LSU possibly do for the guy?
Plus- if he is fired by LSU, he gets double his salary (not even mentioned by the link). Sounds like a pretty sweet contract to me.

Stevo, since your calling me out, I do not criticize players. They are amatuer atletes that are playing a sport they love at a school that they love. I restrict my criticisms to the professionals that are paid, i.e. the coaches.
Have I been unduly harsh towards Miles? I don't think so but you obviously do. Regardless of that disagreement I want Les Miles to represent LSU well and win everytime they touch the field. Obvioulsy they will not win every game, but I'll be rooting for them to do so.
However, this latest conversation w/ UM has had no positive effect for LSU. It's obvious that Les' conversations with them are being leaked to the press. So again, it does not benefit LSU. Therefore, it would be better for LES not to talk to them at all until they have a new coach. I still can't see how that's negative.

how is specs a negative poster when everything he is saying is just COMMON FRIGGIN SENSE ?? miles was STUPID for even talking to michigan and getting busted doing it .. i don't care if the volleyball coach at michigan calls to get his wife's cell number .. you DO NOT return the call until after the championship game ... BOTTOM LINE !

If Miles leaves, LSU won't have much difficulty finding another suitable candidate to coach the team. Unlike some teams, LSU is more then willing to spend the money to get / keep a coach.
Then again, I'd like Miles to stay. To be honest, I'd love to see how members of the media react when all the smoke they've fabricated blows away.

Agree 100%. I wonder what happened when Skip found out about the call, which had to be after he released his statement about the Michigan AD having to ask for permission again.

naw....Spurrier or Saban or Del Rio would still come.

I still don't understand why folks don't use a little bit of common sense, including this idiot blogger. It works wonders. Miles' comments about helping Michigan were nothing more than courtesy, but a lot of folks somehow think that Michigan has signed Miles to some kind of full time consulting contract. Gee, how hard is it to figure this out? The extent of Miles' "help" is one (count 'em) telephone conversation. Let it go.

With LSU's current talent level, recruiting base and facilities, I'd have to imagine LSU could get a pretty good coach. I don't know about Spurrier or Del Rio, though.

WHY NOT...Take your own advice?
JUST SHUT UP!
It obvious to anyone that spends anytime on this board that you have some ax to grind with LES and nothing he does is good enough.
The man could deliver World Peace and solve World Hunger...and you would find something to bitch about!

because Miles, as he himself stated, loves Michigan and always will be a Michigan Man.

This is unbelievable. After ESPN airs false rumors. After Miles calls them out as false and says he's staying. After Miles reaffirms his wedding vows with LSU. After Miles then has to come out a second time to put an end to the false rumors (all coming from Michigan and the Free Press). After Miles' actions back up his statements. Now Miles is getting attacked and being called a lier for SPEAKING THE TRUTH AND BACKING IT UP WITH CONSISTANT ACTIONS????????
The criticism of Miles now is just a hatchet-job by media folks who have been played by the rumor mongers in Michigan.
